Need Lap time; not Lap pace

Hi All,

 

I ran on the track yesterday and recorded laps manually. I ran about 16 laps.

 

At the end of the workout my Ionic showed about 10 laps. I guess the rest didn't fit on the screen.

 

I then went to my watch the Fitbit app to see all of my laps. They were there. But the times weren't. Instead it showed my pace. Pace for a mile I suppose. I wasn't running miles though so this is not helpful.

 

Any ideas on how to get my actual splits or is this another fitbit fail?

I wouldn't describe this as a fail just because it wasn't designed to do what you want it to do. Most use this for a continuous run and a pace is what they are looking for.

@SunsetRunner Despite my moaning about Ionic, I'm gonna play here a devil's advocate. it's not really a fail. It's more like missing feature that ( possibly ) isn't needed by the majority of users. Ionic isn't really directed to the athletes in my opinion. It mostly features functions which target people who want to get moving, shed some weight, start their journey to the fitness and nothing bad about that. I've been there, too. I also own a proper athlete watch and the app that comes with it doesn't support food logging or weight control and the main focus are sports ( lots of stats, lots of graphs, customisation, external sensors ), the sleep analysis is very basic, no things like reminders to move ( which athlete needs that? ) or water intake. Different audience, different needs, different features. It took me a while to come to this realization and accept that I am also, probably, not among the users Fitbit is targetting. Funny thing is that 2-3 years ago I probably was 😉 About your run, you may want to sync your run with Strava. Strava may show you more details.

@SunsetRunneri agree. Fitbit is not designed towards athletes. I am looking to move to a Garmin. Also agree on the missing feature. Just add a column for lap time.

@SunsetRunnerdefinitely a fail, my richard. I recorded my laps my pressing the lap button on the watch. Give me my lap splits. My mile pace? Not important here. They can keep the (mile) Pace column. Just give me another column for my lap times that I recorded. It showed on my watch. Why not the app?

 

You want some more fail take a look at the fitbit stock. even worse; compare it to Garmin

Solution: Log in to the web version of the Fitbit dashboard. Your lap times will show there as well as the lap pace. The app won’t show it but the online version will.

@rlmilianyou are correct in regards to mile splits. If I go out for, let's say, 4 miles, I can see my mile splits on the web UI. However, if I run 4 laps on the track, and manually click the lap icon on my watch, there is no record of this. Only "average pace".

 

Sad thing is, I can see my split when it happens after each lap. I guess I should run with a pad and paper as well and write everything down.

This'll most likely be my last fitbit.  I liked the bit of detailed fitness specs like lap times like it used to be, but since they got rid of those in the interest of making it simple for the "get moving", I'll need to switch to a more of a runner's watch.  I wouldn't think it would be that bad to provide a layer under the "get moving" simple, motivational front page to provide those that "got up and moved" a details page or option that could be turned on to see those incremental details that motivates us to go out and run a bit faster next time.
