Need help with Android setup

Got an iconic fitbit and very nice it is. Love it.

I have tried everything and there is no way to get my Samsung s4 to sync. It shows up in the blutooth devices and i accually had it working once and did sync.

Tried about an hour later to resync and nothing, dis not even find any network or settings at all and remains unable to sync. All i get is a cannot find network and no networks are showing at all, only once it worked, since then nothing and changed nothing.

I also have an apple ipad 2 and that had no issues what so ever connecting and syncing and found and setup my iconic as going through my phone there was even no way it would even setup.

Since it works fine on my ipad 2 means the fitbit is fine and works.

In all my life with setting up bluthooth and connections the fitbit is the only one i have ever had issues with. There is no way it should be this hard?

So the only way i can sync is with my ipad, but miss out on the smart watch features with really sucks.

While i may not use these features it sucks i get no option to ever be able to use this as intended and if I know fitbit has issues with the abdroid app would have got the non smart fitbit.

I have tried everything online to get it synced through my phone and nothing works at all. So annoyed.

Works fine on my son's s4.  It is also 4 generations old so wouldn't surprise me if it had issues......

Hi,

Doing a lot of reading concerning compatiblity with the s4. It seems a hit or miss situation, some work while others its impossible

The Galaxy s4 is an ancient device by today's standards and has issues with numerous wearables due to its weak Bluetooth. I'd recommend getting something newer, an s5 neo wouldn't break the bank and would solve any issues.

I call a phone ancient when it no longer runs all the modern apps and since it still does and runs everything i want. It does me. When i find it wont then will upgrade.

My ipad 2 i just as acient and runs it no issues.

Also looking at blutooth devices it is in there are listed as a bluthooth device. The issue its not finding any network, which suggests its the andoid app at fault.

I used to be an idiot and upgrade phones all the time and seen the light that a long as it runs all modern apps your fine.

The new phones are doing much better other than being faster, but the s4 still runs new apps well enough to no be too slow.

Some s4's seem fine others are not for fitbit and lots of reading suggests an iphone as seems quite a few, not just the s4 abdroid phones fail with the fitbit. Not just the s4 but many android phones so suggests the issue is with the app not the phones.

Think with an android phone and fitbit you need a money back gaureentee that if the fitbit fails to connect to your phone your get your money back.

Google pixel here, and no problems at all with setup. Not much else for now, but it does not seem bad at all.

Just wondering are all you using the non smart watch bitfit or the iconic?

The setup maybe an iconic one? Just a thought?

I just cannot get any wifi settings or networks even showing up.

As a matter of fact keeps saying an error accord when trying to find wifi setup and never ends up lists any wifi networks.

I would check the threads on how to setup the ionic. Seems like some people have a really hard time with it, and others have a smooth experience.

PS apparently no 5Ghz wifi for the ionic. So make sure you are not on one.

I also have a Samsung 7 and experience much of the same. My Windows PC Bluetooth works much better, but that's not where my notifications are. Bluetooth in the Modern Androids just does not seem built for staying connected, once I walk away, I have to reconnect when I come back.

This has been true for my car, my continuous glucose monitor, my pebble, my smart water bottle, all my bluetooth speakers. There are supposed to be third party apps that will attempt reconnects, but I have not found one that works well.

Sadly, Samsung phones are very special, and not always in a good way... My notifications and connected GPS, for example, never worked with Blaze on S8+, but works perfectly fine on stock Android including Essential PH-1 (that has Bluetooth 5.0 just like S8+).

For Wifi, you should only count on 2.4GHz 802.11b/g WPA or WPA2 networks. Though Wifi isn't strictly required for setup: it will speed things up but Bluetooth is an option, much slower but workable one. You do need Wifi for music copying though.

Well if i go to bluthooth settings it shows my iconic is paired, but still wint sync anything. Just go to sync and get the sync error symbol, so does not evrn sync with blutooth and no way could it even be setup on my phone yet works without issues on my ipad 2.

These problems seem random and buying a new phone may not help as you wont know if you are having issues.

It does not seem limited to models as some android phones it works others not. Even have read works on some Samsung s4's abd not others, so even within the same make its hit and miss.

Works well on some iphones and not others. So seems like lotto and who has the winner. No way to know if it will work on your phone, or not?

Even if you bought the same phonr because it works on your mates.

You may buy the same phone make and model and still not work.

while i love the design of the iconic fibit. Mine is going to get returned for a refundi think?

I have tried everything the moderator said was a fix, which is just not true at all.

Restored to factory reset wiped everything etc as had been suggested and my Samsung s4 still does not connect.

The best it ever did was said search and never went past it. Never got the 4 digit blutooth pair code,  yet go to my blutooth settings and says its pair and still cannot find wifi on it.

I bought this for not only a fitness tracker, but the smart phone features.

Sure i can sync with my ipad mini, but thats not the best solution as it means half the watch features are still not avaiable to your phone.

I even sent a message to the moderator who claimed he had a solution but turns out its not the case as many are still having issues.

If i get a refund think will go garmin and for the features far more value for money.

This watch is not doing what i bought it for and to have to use another way around to sync is just not good enough or should be acceptable.

This watch was broken from release and that moderators cliamed fix does nothing and i he cliamed it was a fix, then looks lot a lot of people are stuck with a broken watch.

If he cliams he has a fix then shows they dony know what they are talking about.

I have never, ever had issues with blubooth connection till now.

Are you sure you have the right product? Fitbit’s product is Ionic not Iconic, maybe you bought a chinese knockoff instead.

Garmin Fenix 5s Plus, Fitbit Ionic, Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus
