New Ionic, No GPS and always trying to update

Hi,
My trusty blaze eventually died, so I (upgraded) to a nice new Ionic. I have a couple of problems.

GPS does not connect - There is no way that it connects, I have left it outside for ages trying to find a GPS signal, and have done over 15 runs with it trying to connect and it has never found a GPS signal. I have factory reset the device around 8 times in case there was an issue, left it outdoors several times,  (At the same time checked other GPS devices (usually 11 or so GPS signals found by the other devices.. nothing on the ionic...)

The other issue I have, is that the software always tells me to update the tracker, even though I am on the latest software (App (ios, apple XS) , and device 70.7.14). Again, this happens every time I factory reset and install etc. (Its one of the reasons I have tried it so often, in the vain hope that that might explain the GPS never working).

I am getting to the end of my tether with this, my family all uses fitbits, and have had nothing but good things to say about them.

Anyone else had these issues? Do I have a dud?

Ionic used to be pretty reliable until the last firmware update. Since then GPS has been useless. Even when it connects, it is horribly inaccurate. I'm actually starting to shop elsewhere. This was originally reported by several users in January, and no idea when they think it will ever be resolved.

As for the update, sounds like it did not properly finalize. I would update and let it finish.

Thanks for the responses.

Regarding the GPS fault via the latest update, that is disappointing. I could have purchased an Apple watch (third gen) for not much more and I have a lot of friends who use those. I wanted to stay with the Fitbit brand as I have been using them for years. I find it very strange that they have not fixed this issue if it has been reported.

Regarding the update.  I have reset my phone to factory settings, re-installed etc many times, and it always ends up with the same issue (Needs updating, even though the device itself says it is installed). This has always been via the phone app (Ios), I will try it once more via the PC.
