With my Blaze, steps per hour moves in real time, just like the total steps. When I am trying to hustle and finish up the goal for each hour, I can look at the watch and see the counter approaching the goal.
With my new Ionic, besides have to do a swipe, tap, and a swipe to get to the steps per hour screen, the # of steps does not update in real time. Is this a bug or setting not enabled correctly? It is really annoying to have to hold my phone up for several seconds to see steps per hour refresh and updated. It can even be dangerous when I am moving fast.
Could someone let me know what am I (or Fitbit) doing wrong?
Thanks, John

You're not doing anything wrong. This is simply how the Ionic works with regard to tracking the 250 steps per hour goal.

Why does Ionic, a more update and newer generation model of Smartwatch, seems to go backwards on a functionality?

That's a question Fitbit will need to answer.
Another behavior that I have encountered is that sometimes the Ionic will not vibrate to notify you if you have not reached those 250 steps in the hour. In which case one could miss getting all their steps. It doesn't happen frequently to me, perhaps two or three times per week.

A warm welcome to the Community @JHinOC! I appreciate the details that you've mentioned as well for letting me know that you used to have a Fitbit Blaze.
I was checking how you can see the hourly activity on Blaze and Ionic and it's exactly the same way. You can learn more about it by checking these articles What are hourly activity goals?, What is a reminder to move?.
I would like you to provide me with more details by answering the following questions:
- Is your Ionic constantly syncing to your account?
- Do you have a compatible device?
Hey there @sfringer! I appreciate that you've shared your experience with the Community. I would like you to confirm that you've restarted your Ionic, it should vibrate every hour to let you know how many steps you're missing to reach the 250.
Keep me posted.

@SilviaFitbit it should go without question at this stage that I've restarted my Ionic; I've been using the Ionic since February and know this to be the "fix all" for any report to the forums. I'm almost at the point of simply resetting my Ionic every morning when I wake up. (But sheesh I shouldn't have to do this with a $300 device) I'm also on the cusp of moving on to a non-Fitbit device to simply overcome the excessive "baby-sitting" the Ionic needs to be mostly functional.

@SilviaFitbit, you said that "I was checking how you can see the hourly activity on Blaze and Ionic and it's exactly the same way" - this is NOT true. On my Blaze the steps increment as I move until I reach my goal for the hour. On Ionic the steps DO NOT increment as I move. Total steps increments correctly and instantly, but steps per hour only increment every 5 seconds or so. It is very annoying when I am trying to determine how close I am to completing the steps and the value is NOT correct, and i have to stare at the screen until it updates.

Hey Silvia:
Has anyone resolved this issue or is it indeed the way the Ionic works?
Used to have a Blaze and indeed the real-time update was important for those last minute dashes. It is disappointing not to have the same convenience on a newer and updated model.
To be clear, this is not an issue of updating on the app. It is when I look at the "steps this hour" on the watch and it does not add to it while I am stepping. It can literally display 0 steps this hour and the next second confirm that I have met the 250 step requirement. The tracker is tracking, it is just not reflected in the steps per hour display in real time.
Yes, I have tried turning the watch on and off.
Thanks in advance
