So I bought my new Fitbit Ionic yesterday, I can’t use it without updating it but it’s not letting update it, I am using home wifi, and I left my phone on for 8 hours and it still didn’t update, this is getting really frustrating.
Can I even use my phone while it’s updating??

Is your ipad model on the list of Approved Devices?

It has something to do with the new firmware update and appears to be affecting a significant number of Ionics both old and brand new alike based on all the commenting here. Unfortunately Fitbit has no solution as of present, and if your Ionic is one of the ones affected (like mine) then you're SOL and maybe it will work again someday if they fix or rollback the update. Sadly they've yet to acknowledge that this is even happening let alone start discussing a fix. For people lucky enough to still be under warranty they are being sent replacements that are also bricking upon update. It's a sh*tshow as of the moment.

Im so frustrated with this piece of garbage. I expected that paying a little more for a watch would somehow lead to a decent product.
Customer service is friendly, but that doesnt fix my watch. How can you sell a product that doesnt work; and not acknowledge that you are going to fix it?! Ive spent hours on this piece of trash... And then to keep giving me these pointless things to try that are basically the equivalent of "hey try it again" or have you tried turning it off then back on again....NO you made this thing, fix it or just send me a credit for a Garmin.

Yes. Mine is the same. They dont work... BUT if its under warranty you can get another one that doesnt work so then you'll have 2 watches that dont work!

Has anyone tried installing it from your desktop? I have done about everything else under the sun but I havent tried that yet. I dont really want to spend more time trying to make this thing work, but Ive invested this much time and money into it so I might as well.

Yes, I tried over my IPhone, Windows 10 Laptop and also from an Ipad. It failed no matter the platform...

Same issue for me. Wifi and bluetooth won't update for brand new Fitbit ionic. Fail on wifi at 10% or stuck at 100% updating screen when attempting on bluetooth.
I have iPhone XR with the latest ios.
First time Fitbit, was super excited to get this up and running, that was 13+ hrs ago. Talk about a bad first time customer experience.

It’s clearly an issue on Fitbits behalf as there’s numerous posts on the forums and Facebook regarding the exact same problem. Are you aware of any patches to the firmware that will allow users to complete an update? Will there be a patch or should people go and get refunds as this seems to be a widespread problem. I don’t understand why Fitbit can’t use the same firmware in all its products to keep everything running smoothly and only release updates that have been tested and actually work

Bought a brand new versa fit bit, but it won't let me do anything and it doesn't seem to want to update. Have tried turning off the fit bit. Restarting my phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Any help would be appreciated.

I say we keep posting until they fix it! As of right now, I have a $250 paperweight that doesn't even tell me the time! I have been reading on social media that Fitbit pretty much sucks at fixing issues timely. Wait until a million people open their new ionic on Christmas and blow up social media with their complaints!
