New Ionic won't calibrate, won't monitor heart rate, & full battery died in the middle of the night

Hello,

My husband bought a new Fitbit Ionic last night and it is having some issues we are hoping to work through.  It keeps trying to calibrate but the calibration fails.  It is connected to the charger and nothing is obscuring the sensors.  It is also not monitoring heart rate but I'm hoping this issue is related to not being calibrated.  It was at 90% when we went to bed last night and the battery died in the middle of the night.

Did we get a faulty Fitbit Ionic or is there a step we are missing?  Thanks!

@lgriffiths422, I am a little confused as to your problem.  The calibration of the Ionic takes only a few seconds after the tracker is put on the charger and laid down on a solid surface.  You say "it was at 90%", which is the battery strength, and shows when the tracker is put on the charger. But then, you say it died during the night, which means that it was not on the charger.  Exactly what was the sequence of events with your Ionic?

Thank you for looking at my questions.

The first issue is the Ionic will NOT calibrate.  No matter what we do, it won't work.  We've taken off the bands so it is just the fitbit and laid it on a solid, flat surface, then connected the charger per the instructions and it still won't happen.

In regards to the battery dying, I'm simply saying it was at 90% charged when going to bed and the fitbit battery died during the night.  It shouldn't last around 4 to 5 days...right?

Thanks!

I read from another user experiencing similar problems, change the clock face to a different one. This should bring back steps, bpm, etc. Then you can change back to desired clock face.

Hello

Have you you had any luck with the calibration? I just got my Ionic yesterday and am having a lot of similar issues. Won’t calibrate, heart monitor isn’t working and step count is sporadic. Also, it won’t receive notifications even though it’s synced to my phone and the setting is on.

Hopeuflly the poroblem gets addressed soon. Thanks.

@KingInTheNorth, when you say your Ionic "Won’t calibrate", exactly what are you referring to?  Are you referring to the message on the screen asking you to calibrate it, or are you referring to syncing it to the app?  Or, something different?

When it tells you to plug it in, lay it on a flat surface and don’t touch it as part of the initial setup. No matter what we do it always says “calibration failed”.

We haven't had any luck with the Ionic and are taking it back to Best Buy tonight to try to exchange it.
