New ionic won't pair with phone

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have turned restarted this phone, off other phones, turned off Bluetooth, turned on Bluetooth, and tried to get my phone to pair for almost 2 weeks.  It won't work.  Anyone have ideas?  It gets to the point of saying "Found It!" and won't connect to tracker.  I've let it sit over night without pairing

@Deanneswatch Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for trying those troubleshooting steps in order to sort this out. What kind/model of mobile device are you using to set up your Ionic?

Have you tried performing a restart on Fitbit Ionic too? That usually helps with this kind of situations.

If this doesn't work you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the Fitbit App. Check this article for more details.

If non of that works, please try to set it up using a computer.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy

I’m having the same problem! I get to the point where it say it found my device and never connects! What’s the solution! Help!

I simply shut off the watch and turned back it back on. And it worked. To turn it off, press and hold the button on the left and right side at the same time for a few seconds. It will restart

have you checked to see if your phone is a supported device?

@LauraC8 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for your inquiry regarding Ionic not connecting and thanks for sharing the workaround that helped you out.

I'm sure the workaround you have shared (turning off/on Ionic) will be helpful for other users too. It is a simple and easy solution. I'm glad it works!

@Cantryboy Thanks for pointing the list of supported devices. It is very important to use a supported device to avoid any functionality  inconveniences.

Also, take a look at the Discussions Board as you will find a lot of interesting things there. Feel free to post on any thread you want. If you are looking for Fitbit friends to compete with on challenges, check this thread to add some!

It doesn't work for me.  I paired and then it stopped syncing, and I've unpaired, removed the app, restarted the phone, restarted the watch, finally got it paired and then within half a day same thing.  This will go back if it's not fixed with the last software update

After trying everything on these boards, I called and they told me to delete all Bluetooth devices from my phone and then try to pair. I was skeptical but it actually worked

None of the recommendations have helped.  My ionic stopped syncing at the end of April, along the same time as the latest update.  I've even done a factory reset, created a new Fitbit user account etc, downloaded a new fitbit app on my samsung s8.  I'm going to throw the product away and never purchase from this brand again.

Same problem here.  I've tried every troubleshooting recommendation I could find.  After literally a dozen attempts over a few days, I'm done. I'm sure I could get it to sync on my computer, but whatsw the point if it won't ever pair with my phone.  This **ahem** is getting returned and I'm going with my original gut instinct of avoiding the Fitbit brand.  I was happy with my older Garmin device, thought the Ionic would be a suitable upgrade. Big mistake. Once I get my refund for this I'll be going back to Garmin.

After fighting with mine for a couple of days it miraculously started to
sync! One more chance, if updates dont fix this issue and it recurs I will
be switching to Garmin too

Deleting the paired Ionic from Bluetooth settings and reconnecting worked for me.

Have the same problem as above.

Went on holiday last week and synced my Ionic to change to a different time zone (ridiculous that this is the only way - but that's another issue!).

This worked fine, first time.

Back home now I tried to sync to set it back to BST - but it wont connect.

Restarted the watch - didn't work.

I can't find "Factory Reset" in settings...?

Unpaired from my phone - but now it wont re-pair.   Phone can "see" the watch, but Bluetooth pairing always fails with no reason given.

What now?

Hello everyone! Thanks for your continuous participation on this thread regarding Ionic not pairing to your phones. I'm glad to hear that this got sorted for some users. Thanks for trying some steps to fix this.

If you haven't done so already, please check that the phone you are using is listed under the compatible devices. If it is and still not pairing; check if you have any other Fitbit devices paired to your accounts. If you do, try unpairing them and then pair Ionic (let me know if that works).

Also, and this is the most important point on this post, is that a new firmware version for Ionic started to roll out yesterday. This, as usual, is a progressive roll out; so if you haven't received the update yet you should in the following days. This includes fixes for some bugs so please update as soon as you get it. Check this post for more details.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted! Smiley Happy
