No Ionic notifications or charge

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Two problems:

1) Ionic recently stopped receiving notifications. Have tried turning them off on the watch and the app and restarting both, still nothing.

2) When I connect the Ionic to the charger, it shows to be charging, but it doesn’t seem to actually be charging. Again, have tried restarting and shutting down, still nothing.

Hi @Jlmatth,

For now, I think you should focus more on the battery charging issue than the notifications issue.  If I had to hazard a guess, once you solve the battery issue, the notification issue will be easier to resolve.

First, I would check the charging ports on both the charger and the Ionic and make sure they are clean.  Any kind of dirt or debris that gets near the charging ports could prevent the charger and Ionic from making a secure connection between the two.  Although there are many ways to clean the charger and the charging ports, my favorite way is to take a toothpick and gently scrape around the charging ports until they turn back to that golden yellow.

Second, are you charging via a wall charger or a computer?  While you can charge using either type of port, I find that charging it through a computer protects the battery more than charging it on the wall.

Third, how long are you leaving the Ionic on the charger?  In order to get a good charge on it, you need to leave it on the charger for at least two hours.

If all else fails, contact Support (link is at the bottom of the page) and ask for a battery test.  Be prepared to take pictures just in case you need proof.

Next. let's get those notifications back on!

To make sure that there are no bugs in any of the devices involved, please restart your Ionic and your phone.

Next, go into your Bluetooth settings and remove the Ionic from the list of recognized devices.  Then, make sure you have no other Fitbits or Bluetooths on in the immediate area before reconnecting them.

Next, open the app and attempt a sync.  If you can sync the Ionic to your phone, you know that the connection is good and that the reason you aren't getting notifications has nothing to do with the connection between the two devices.

Now go into the Ionic settings on the phone app.  Scroll until you find "Notifications" and select it.  Toggle the option on and off.  Once the notifications are turned on, select the apps you wish to receive notifications on.  Now attempt to sync your Ionic again.

Finally, give yourself a test phone call.  If you're at home, call your phone from the house phone.  If you're not home, ask a friend to barrow their phone to make the call.  If it shows up on your Ionic, then the troubleshooting was successful.  If all that fails, check out this article.

As suggested, I’ve tried the battery issue before anything else.

I have plugged in to both a wall outlet and a computer, both for multiple hours, and have not been able to get any charge on the watch.

Check that nothing is attached to the magnets in the cable.

Have you restarted the ionic? Or better yet through settings shut the ionic off.

I’ve done both of those. Restarted with left and bottom right buttons as well as shutdown through the settings.

checked the cable and the charge port on back of the Ionic
