No steps when riding in gps ride mode. All riding previous to using gps ride mode always counted steps I assume based on heart rate and effort.

Welcome.

In response to your question, if you are riding fast enough, the Ionic will not record steps. I think this threshold is <~10 mph.

Hope this helps!

May ask what are you riding? Most people are upset that Fitbit awards them stappes when they are not stepping

Just to to give you a bit more info that might help. I do get some steps while on gps ride mode, usually about 3500 for a 21km commute to work not using ride mode, 900 for same ride using ride mode. Did 70km this morning only got 2100 with ride mode on. Hope this helps. Cheers GaryMcg.

Thanks for comments. It seems like the 10mph/20kph pace limit is the reason so I’m going back to using my lezyne  cycle comp it gives me hr calories and heaps of other stuff. With it linked to Strava anyway I get everything recorded and shared in a couple of easy actions using Bluetooth. I will leave my ionic on as normal thus still recording appropriate steps for effort to share with Fitbit followers. Thanks again.

@GaryMcg Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for taking the time to post the experience you have had with your bike rides. I'm really glad to read that you got some good replies and support on this.

I just wanted to add that there is an option to log your bike rides manually in which you can actually select the speed you were riding. You can do this in the online dashboard. Check the picture below:

You could try this option and check the results.

Please keep sharing your fitness results with the Community!
