I have had my ionic for a week tomorrow. Still have not been able to sync it properly and use it. I have talked to the customer service team multiple times and spent hours trying to trouble shoot with them.
It takes about 2 hours to get it set up. It syncs for about 5 minutes and then disconnects. It then goes back and forth from looking and syncing but never connects.
How long do we need to wait before this gets fixed or they can give some update. I have tried all the trouble shooting including factory reset, etc. Very frustraing.

Regardless of when the phone came out, as you said it is a flagship phone. It should be supported.

Would like to hear from Fitbit directly on this.

I have not used a passcode and I am still experiencing the syncing problems. In addition, my Ionic keeps vibrating for no apparent reason and is constantly restarting. Serious fatal flaw here.

If you bought it from Fitbit call and demand a refund. I was past my 45 days on mine but had been calling about the sync issue since the first week with no resolution and they agreed to give my money back.
I liked the functionality of the Ionic and would have loved the watch if not for the syncing issues. I preordered the Versa, hopefully it won’t have these issues.

I too continue to have syncing issues with the response “looking”. I go through different steps and sometimes it syncs but other times it is hours later when I have some time and I try again. It is very disappointing to continue to troubleshoot this..I dont see any new information on this. I sync with IOS on an iPad Pro. Any new suggestions?? Thanks

Thought i had a sync issue too. The more i read these forums, something finally hit me. I just got the sammy s9+ upgraded from the s6. The iconic would never sync at home very well, but it would sync instantly if i was away from home. I made sure that the iconic was only synching to ONE device(my s9+).. it syncs every time i open the dashboard now.. I found the iconic was synching to my ipad instead of my phone.. shut the bluetooth off on the ipad and the iconic works perfectly with the phone now. Just my 2cents!! Try it and see

AFAIK it shouldn't have an impact, but completely removing Wi-Fi from my Ionic was the only way to get sync working at all. I have a 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi on the same network name and suspect the Ionic to mix up the Mac addresses. Happened also on Amazon Echo.

Thanks so much. I shut down bluetooth on my iPhone and now it seems to be syncing better on the iPad. I never had a problem with my previous less expensive Fitbit in syncing to both devices. I was assuming upgrading my Fitbit would at least deliver the same service, but not the case. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge.

I am have this issue as well. I used to have a Charge 2 and loved it and recently decided to upgrade to the Ionic and this is my second ionic in 2 weeks. First one decided to stop counting steps after a week and was exchanged for this one. I’ve only had this one for 3 days and I have to date it from my account and go through setup everyday as it won’t sync and just keeps looking without connecting. I’ve never had issues syncing to my iPhone before. I am very disappointed in Fitbit and would like this to be resolved.

I regularly have to completely re-pair my Ionic with my iPhone 8 - setting it up as a new device is the only thing that restores a proper sync connection (incl. notifications, which are always the first thing to be lost).
This has been going on since day 1 last October - the Ionic cannot be relied upon to perform the most basic of functions - a reliable sync, even despite the most recent OS update.
Ionice is really poor, esp. for the high ticket price - I'm hugely disappointed by it.

I've sold mine for that reason. I've never wasted so much time on any technical device like the Ionic, it was a hugh let down for me as a long-time Fitbit user. They haven't even fixed this problems on the new Versa (which isn't a surprise as it's the same software). Can't believe one of the major players in the industry struggles that much with basic functions and can get away with it!

I think I’ll be returning mine, I was told it was an update issue and fixed that this morning and now I’m back to not syncing again and customer support just keeps telling me to forget the device and start over. Why do I need to do that 3 times a day? This issue needs to be fixed

Get out while you can. Fitbit either can't, or won't fix the issue. I'm too late to escape this device and I've been waiting for more than three months for a fix. A fix is not coming. If they could have fixed it, it'd be fixed by now. If you have an out, take it. This is too expensive a device to get something that barely works.
