I just activated an iPhone 11 this weekend and my fitbit app and the phone seem to communicate as far as syncing my activity, but it will not send me notifications on text messages or incoming phone calls as it has done in the past. I've tried everything from removing the fitbit from the app and reinstalling it, restarting the fitbit, turning bluetooth on and off, Googling and doing everything they suggest but I still cannot get them to communicate and notify me of texts and phone calls. Any suggestions??????

Is it running iOS 13? (please excuse my ignorance - I'm an android user)

In that case you may be affected by an ongoing bug that fitbit are working on. Keep an eye on the following thread where they are posting updates and recommendations:
