Hi All,

First of WTF have @Fitbit done with these changes to the watch firmware? The music controls are now hidden away behind a long press AND on the same long press as ScreenWake and Notification settings.

Bottom right key brings up Alarms?!?! Again WTF I never set Alarms on my devices, EVER, and exercises moved to the top Right key, I don't need the exercises splash screen either, never had it before and managed quite well thank you.

And lastly music control now doesn't work at all, tried on Android (S8) and iPhone (X) the previous FitBit OS worked fine on both devices.

A few steps forward and then fall down the stairs... I am all for changes but modifying the basic layout, WHY!!?!?!

I think the update is great!

The right top and bottom are shortcuts for whatever the apps are that are in the corresponding position one swipe over. You can change that.

Haven't used it for music since the update.

the 2 side buttons are determined by what the first 2 apps are in your app view. you can change them by holding them down and dragging them to where you want them. if you never use alarms, i would suggest putting it on the last page.

I like the new changes personally but maybe they can allow you to customize these quick features more in the future.

@Cantryboy @genericscissors Thank you both, I didn't RTFM, my only excuse is I have a man cold and it is making me grumpy 😞

Both your answers helped immensely! I updated the topic title to reflect lol.

Thanks you.

Except...the music controls aren't listed as an app, so it can't be positioned to one of the two buttons on the right.  The only way to access the music controls appears to be by long press on the left, followed by swiping.

The 2.0 update has made the music controls harder to get to, and less reliable in operation.

"Music" is most definitely an app on the Ionic.  Look for the purple music notes when you swipe right to left through the menus.  If it isn't there, try to reinstall it through your phone.  I'd show you if there was an easy way to screen shot my watch face.

@SunsetRunner which takes me to a screen where I can shuffle all or transfer music.  Not to the music controls for prev/play/next.

My opinion is that they should combine the music selection app (the one with the purple note) and the control commands.

If you have your headphones connected and start a music track (press on it from a playlist), those controls show up, as well as turning the right side buttons into volume controls.

I don't use headphones.  I have my music on my phone, and it's paired with my vehicle.  What I want to use my Fitbit/Smartwatch for is the ability to control the music player on my phone.

I'd like to be able to press a button to go to my music controls, and be able to start my music (on my phone), and then be able to skip back/forward with the hard buttons.  I rarely need to adjust the volume of music.  Skipping tracks is something I do far more often.  That's what I'd like to do without having to look at my watch.

Presuming I did use the smartwatch/phone pair (or even just the Fitbit with music stored on it) while exercising, I'd still want the ability to skip tracks more often than I'd want to adjust volume.  I'd much prefer the physical buttons to be for skipping tracks than adjusting volume.

Right now, it's so inconvenient to get to the music controls (if they even work without needing to reboot the Ionic), it's easier just to control the music from my phone.
