Finally winter is here in Norway. Unfortunately the Ionic doesn't seem to do winter. No tracking of any type of winter outdoor activities. I find that very disappointing. Add to that the fact that transferring music is virtually impossible (one of the main reasons I chose this MULITIsports watch over countless others). So far it seems that this is a watch i can only use partly as intended. ☹️

The activities it tracks was made public prior to release. Even so, it really was no surprise since it was the same as the Surge and Blaze. It does perform as intended, just not as you like.... Which I realize does not help your needs.
I hate that Soccer and Volleyball are not in there either, John I just use Workout, then adjust on the dashboard later. Perhaps this could work for you as well?

Well I never had the surge or the blaze so I wouldn’t know about that. The problem with having set the activity as hike or walk is that even if I use the GPS it doesn’t record the correct distance. It works fine on hikes and walks but doesn’t record the correct distance when I ski. It seems as if distance going downhill is not recorded, just like it doesn’t record elevation when you use an elevator. It seems it is dependant on my arm movement to record length travelled. And skiing downhill while waving my arms around is not an option 😉. It looks like step count overrides GPS somehow. We have tried several times now. My husbands Fenix has a setting for skiing and this setting records the correct distance. I even have a free app that gets it right, so I assumed a pricy MULTIsports watch would be even better. As it is now I might as well leave the watch home and just use the app on my phone
