Pairing Ionic with JBL Free (X) BT Earbuds

Hello. Has anybody managed to pair Ionic with JBL Free BT earbuds? My Ionic can find them when in pairing mode. What follows is a notice "Pairing JBL Free" but the two devices won't connect. The pairing process either goes on indefinitely without any result or (from time to time) the result is an almost immediate "connection failure". I did not have any problem to pair these earbuds with an Android 8 phone (Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime). My Ionic paires well with Flyers - so in priciple - I assume both devices are ok, they just do not seem to like each other. Any ideas? Thanks.

Welcome to the Community @Bonasa! I appreciate the details that you've mentioned. I was looking in the Community and someone was able to connect his Ionic and JBL Free BT, you can double check the tips that he provided on this post. 

 

I would like you to make sure that you're following this steps to properly connect them.

Hi Silvia. Reading the article abouth how to connect BT audio devices you are mentioning was the first thing I did after recognizing there was a problem with the connection. Reading the post on JBL BT issues that you linked was the second thing I did (before posting my question) - it is apparently dealing with another JBL device.

 

I have tried all that those texts suggest (restarting the Ionic, bringing repeatedly both Ionic and the JBL Free into search mode...). Always the same result. Ionic recognizes JBL Free immediately but than the connection just doesn't happen.

 

I also suspected that my JBL Free unit might be faulty at first but then I paired it very easily with my Android phone and there it works like a charm - I used it together for several hours without a glitch and to my utmost satisfaction.

 

But I would still love to be able to use the JBL Free with the Ionic - much more convenient than the phone. Well, I have my Flyers that work with Ionic very well but, quite frankly, I like the JBL Free more - no wires at all and sound that I find more appealing.

 

Thank you for trying to help anyway.

 

Perhaps the upcoming firware update on Ionic will sort it out somehow. Mine is still 27.32.10.20.
