Pebble replacement - what do you recommend?

Hi guys. I am new to the forums, and I am not a Fitbit owner (yet... maybe?). However, with the advent that my Pebble Time 2 watch, which I absolutely LOVE to death... (why does the $$ always trump over common sense I'll never know) ... will one day stop - or the apps will stop or all I'll be able to do with it is change watch faces - IF I am lucky... I am therefore forced to look at alternatives.

The big PLUS with Pebble for me was (is!!!): Constant watch face showing, JayPS GPS Sports tracker app and Strava upload, ability to send voice-to-text SMS, control Bluetooth devices such as speakers, music machines, etc... (ie: volume control, pause/start/stop, etc), marine/water based apps for navigation and compass bearings, and the fact that I can develop software for it was easy pies!

I am hoping the IONIC can at least run Strava like apps, as I am a sports man into water based sports such as kite surfing, and cycling on road... I need Strava integration at least! Bonus about the IONIC is the inbuilt GPS! But how good is it compared to Garmin Edge 500/520 for example? How quick is it? All I need to see on my watch is my speed, avg speed, heart rate, and climbing/descending rate. Please advise what Fitbit I should go for.

Thanks

@SunsetRunner Welcome to the Fitbit family! Thanks for your interest in a Fitbit watch and for sharing all of those details.

You could go with either Ionic or Versa. Both watches have the Strava app available to use. Also, if you go to the Fitbit App Gallery you will find apps like JayPS too! There another app for water sports called SaltyDog. You can explore the gallery to check what other apps you can find. There are always new apps and if you are  developer you can also contribute with apps and clock faces.

It is possible to connect Bluetooth devices too. It is not possible to send voice to text messages, however it is possible to send Quick Replies. The GPS is very good too, I think you should give it a try!

Hope this information helps. Keep me posted! Smiley Happy
