Phone Not Compatible... Syncing Issues

Hello!

I just recently got a fitbit Ionic on 12/22. I have an Honor 6 phone and the latest firmware on my Ionic and android version 7. This was an early Christmas gift from my fiance that he ordered on Amazon.

Unfortunately, I just noticed a couple minutes ago that my phone isn't compatible with my Ionic. Is this why I'm having syncing issues? It is EXTREMELY hard to get my Ionic to sync to my phone and it's frustrating to spend hours trying to get it to work since I've gotten it... Did we waste our money since the phone isn't compatible? I just bought the phone as well and really didn't think I would have to do all of this research just to get my Ionic to sync properly. I'm hoping this is just a temporary issue since the Ionic is so *new*. I was so excited to track everything, especially my sleep, but it's becoming a hassle only after having it a week. 😞 PLEASE HELP! I have read so many forums with how to get it to sync and nothing has really worked... I can only get it to sync every so often (about once every 2 days which is ridiculous...)

Other than the syncing issues (which is a HUGE issue to me) I love my Ionic. I hope soon that things get better because I really don't want to return it and get something else...

It may not simply be your phone asherycharles. I bought an Ionic for my wife and also for myself. We both have Samsung A5 (2017) one of EE and one on Vodafone.

My ionic -  which I set-up first - has been pretty much hassle free. Jo's on the other hand is a monumental pain in the doodah. Initially, it wouldn't connect to wi-fi to update but eventually got that sorted. It hasn't synced since Tuesday!! Admittedly Jo doesn't have her Bluetooth, location etc on all the time, but she never had these issues with her Gear fit.

It increasingly seems, and as others have commented, that Fitbit has pushed the Ionic way too soon and the firmware is having to play a huge catchup. I wouldn't object to this if, as a user, I opted to be on the beta testing - in fact this is more like alpha testing software development.

Hugely disappointing. I came from a Microsoft Band 2 and the issues there were the physical quality of the strap but never had these sorts of issues.

Like many others on here I am IT savy - working in IT s/w development and comms. For the average user this is way beyond what should be expected.

I have been having the same problem. I haven’t been able to sync my Ionic in 8 weeks. Yesterday I didn’t charge it in time and the battery died while I was at work.

I charged it over night and when I woke up my Fitbit was saying the wrong time. 14 hours behind actually. I also cannot connect to WiFi to update and sync my Fitbit. I’m very disappointed because I wasn’t very excited to have this Fitbit. My boyfriend has the blaze and his never stays connected either and is always 4 days behind and on the wrong time.

I would like to have some help from Fitbit themselves to know what is going on and to get this issue fixed! I did not spend all this money to have something that does not work!

Thanks for replying so quickly irish_sparks! I'm glad yours is working well, but it seems as though your wife is having the same issues as I am. I've tried everything it seems and very seldom I'm successful with syncing. I have noticed that if I Unpair my Ionic, turn off Bluetooth, Restart my phone and Ionic, turn Bluetooth back on, Repair Ionic, and then go to the Fitbit app on my phone then sometimes it will automatically sync (the little sync icon will start flashing and the sync bar will fill up), other times it won't. Sometimes I will get it to manually sync too, but it seems like it's one in a million. I did research as far as what fitbit I wanted as far as features, but didn't get into much detail as to which is better software and hassle wise... I'd say the Ionic is the worst I've seen so far 😞 Besides all of the issues it would be great! This is definitely a learning experience for me. lol!

So sorry that you're having a harder time than I am lol. I've gone through resetting it up and even almost bricked mine! Luckily after a lot of attempts and different things I tried I was able to get back into it and reset it back up. I didn't think there would be this many issues so that's why I was so quick to pick the Ionic.. but now after experiencing all of this... just frustrating! $300 is a lot to pay for a watch to most people so I was hoping it would work immaculately... guess not. I hope this all gets resolved soon since a lot of people have already returned their Ionic's. I've also noticed that my time is always off by 2-10 minutes if it isn't synced or something. I wish there was an actual solution to these issues and not just run-arounds. Read my reply to irish_sparks though and see if that helps with your syncing!!

1) Unpair Ionic

2) Turn off Bluetooth

3) Restart phone and watch

4) Turn Bluetooth back on

5) Repair Ionic

6) Go to Fitbit app on your phone and the sync icon should blink and the sync bar should fill up

I've had to do those steps a couple times just to get it to sync once!! But that seems like the easiest thing to do right now.... when I tried removing my Ionic from my app and reset it, it wouldn't connect to my Ionic even if it was charging like it says to do, then I finally got to the 4 digit code thing and that took forever to load as well. Hope this helps you out a bit as I've been doing lots of reading on all of this silly stuff.

Is it just me or is it surprising that there has been no official comment from fitbit themselves (that I have seen anyway...)

So magically my watch has been working out amazingly!! I currently have my Bluetooth on but it is NOT paired to my phone. I'm not sure if that's why it's working so well but I have 0 complaints now. I have all day sync and always connected turned OFF. Every time I open the Fitbit app on my phone it now syncs. I also charged it the other night and I'm not sure how but my weather is working now too after several attempts of trying to get it to work. All my research has been paying off but no one should have to spend so much time trying to figure out a $300 watch that should already work with no flaws.. I hope everyone else gets some luck and they start working properly!!

1) Have Bluetooth on but don't pair Ionic to phone

2) Have all day sync and always connected turned OFF

Hopefully your Ionic will sync then once you open the fitbit app.

Hope this helps!
