Play/Pause control from Ionic unlocks phone

When I'm controlling my phone's music playback from my Ionic, Play/Pause unlocks the phone.

 

Why?

 

This is a problem because if the phone is in my pocket, I end up with unwanted taps to the screen launching apps, writing messages, taking photos, etc.

 

The skip fwd/bck buttons do not unlock the phone.

 

I've tried other bluetooth devices (Jabra headphones and Nokia headphones) and they do not unlock the phone when Play/Pause is pressed on the controlling device.

Update:
The phone now unlocks with ALL music control interactions including Volume +/- and Skip Fwd/Back.
