Hey!
So I am super excited by all things Ionic, but am running a race within the next 2 months. What is the release date that it will be able to be shipped out if preordered?

Your hippiness would not fall on deaf ears here, haha. I was doing my best to try to not go too far over the edge with it 🙂

Anyway, I am a big believer in anticipation of getting something. It can often be more exciting that actually having said object. It can be fun to obsess. 🙂

I agree. Oftentimes, anticipation is the fun part.
There's a thin, temporal line, though between the anticipation phase and the irritation phase.
I'm squarely in the territory of the latter at this point.

I'm wondering if anybody has heard of Amazon shipping sooner for orders that happened earlier? Their site still does not show an expected delivery date.

Tried "add a new device" in the Android Fitbit app to see if the Ionic is an option. Yes it is!! Great to know app is ready for our Ionic when we receive them.

I have 2 orders currently, one with Amazon, one with Fitbit - hopefully there will be enough gap to cancel one before they both ship.

They told me mine was shipped. Maybe they just meant processing, but it should be next week anyway.

I guess my question is why are you irritated? When you ordered the product it said it would be shipping in 3-4 weeks...it is doing so. Why would you expect it sooner? When you ordered they probably weren't even on the boats from the factory. You are getting your order before retail customers and as soon as they are physically available to ship.
Where is the irritation coming from? It sounds like it is from your own false expectations? This wasn't a product on the shelf, it was currently being manufactured in a factory when you ordered it, then shipped by boat worldwide (from China) over a period of weeks, then from port, over land, in bulk by truck and rail, then staged for individual shipping. How was it to get to you any sooner than the date originally scheduled? Why would they have given you a date then gotten it to you much sooner? Why would you order if waiting the 3-4 weeks, as you were told you would, was irritating?

Some of us had ship dates that had already passed, and have had little or no contact from Fitbit. Mine should have shipped by the 21st, and in different contacts I have heard anything from next week to 3 - 4 weeks from now.
All of this from having to contact fitbit, not being contacted by them, and them seeing to see no problem with this (we are waiting for our customers to contact us, so we can give 1 - 1 service)
My irritation is not the delay, but how it has been handled by Fitbit (Who I also directly invited to put a statement on these forums to let people know - linking to this thread amongst others - yet still nothing).

Looks like most people's orders have been updated to processing, meaning they are about to ship. The estimated 2-3 weeks (I ordered on 9/1) will be two business days late if shipped Monday, but not really late, as it was estimated.
This is often part of preordering a more complex device or product. Apple is reporting back logs on orders placed for the watch. I don't know if they are proactively contacting users, but I doubt they would if it was a matter of a couple of days. Preorder ship dates of this nature are not precision, but based on a number of complex factors that may change at any time (for instance, a single boat delayed by a day or two or more at port for customs inspections) This is common in my experience with preorders on anything except media like blu rays.
And if you think the message is changing, it has been consistently been the same for over a week: US shipments are heading out next week...UK in October. This is what was stated in the original press release and what is happening. The 3-4 week statement seemed to be for U.K. customers, but the source of that is unclear based on calls to help desks that may not know the correct answer because the expectation is that customers aren't going to be calling 2-3 weeks early asking if their orders are shipping on time in the future. They aren't expecting calls until something is late. If you called Thursay, when you say you felt it was late, they had been giving the "next week" answer they had been giving for some time by then.
Anyway, my message is to a user who had stated he was irritated that it hadn't shipped yet, not yourself.

@amandagal May i ask when you placed your order?
I'm trying to get a handle on whether orders are being filled and shipped based on when the order was originally placed.

Ordered mine on release day. Weird enough, Amex just notified my yesterday that they ran my card for the purchase amount, hoping that is a good sign that they are getting ready to ship it.

They aren't...these are received in bulk, staged for individual shipment, and all go out at once. To ask for a company to spend more time to organize it in order and then ship out is just adding more time to the process.
