Random resting heart rate spikes-Ionic

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've had the Ionic since it's UK launch on Oct 2nd and been very happy and it's a good upgrade from the charge 2.

One thing that has started to happen in the last 3 days which is bothering me though is multiple times per day my resting heart rate which is usually mid 50's while seated and inactive has been spiking to around 120 for 5 minutes out of the blue then drop down to the same again.

I've checked it manually and it's remained constant in these periods and today I've been getting up and walking around when it does it and that seems to correct it but it's just a strange little glitch that is frustrating. I've tried shutting it down several times, reset it, charged it but nothing has helped.

Any ideas? Thanks

@mikep87 I hope you're doing well! Are you still experiencing this?

Resting heart rate takes the HR readings from when you are calm. Fitbit will use your heart rate data from when you’re awake and asleep to estimate your resting heart rate. Are you wearing it to sleep? That is good for better accuracy. Check this article for more details about heart rate and resting heart rate.

Also, are these resting heart rate spikes showing on the graph as well? If possible, please share a screen shot of it!

You could try turning off the heart rate sensor from the watch itself. You will find the option on the watch's settings. Then sync and turn it on again and check if those spikes show again.

Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

And besides what @SantiR suggested, you can also check this article on wearing the tracker. In my experience, wearing it too tightly (or loosely), or with incorrect placement on the arm, can cause momentary spikes like those.

@mikep87I can only offer the same as @WavyDavey I have noticed when I finish an activity I get recorded spikes at around 158bm for about 2 minutes after I stop, then it settles down.. Nothing to do with HR. I feel I have touched my watch buttons to stop an activity or the watch has slipped and resting on my wrist bone.

At night I have no issues.. Just picks up my 2 x toilet breaks..  Ignore the colours because Fitbit haven't got the scale correct at this level.. 72bpm is my yellow

looks like you’ve answered your own question: you’re sick with the flu. Illness like that can caisson your heart rate to spike. If you’re worried or it doesn’t get better, get ot checked out straight away. Hope you’re feeling better soon.
