Today (29 Feb 2020), my Ionic's touchscreen stopped working. The buttons work, but I cannot swipe up/down/left/right. Tapping does nothing.
I have tried restarting. No change.
Until now. I tried to do a restart and it created a restart loop.
The watch still counts steps, heart rate, etc., and syncs. But otherwise it's functionally useless.
Plus, I noticed the last day or two, when I tried to charge it, the charge cable seemed not to "connect." It would stick via the magnets, but the little battery icon wouldn't appear and there was no indication if it was charging.
I bought this unit in the summer of 2018. I hardly think less than two years is an acceptable lifespan for a $350+ CAD product.
Any advice? Any recommendations? Any suggestions for how Fitbit can compensate me for a product that has a sickeningly short lifespan? Because I am not at all impressed.
For reference, I sync to an iPhone SE running app version 3.15.1. The Ionic itself appears to be version 70.7.14.

Hi @SunsetRunner, welcome to the Community Forums!
Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for all the details that were shared in your post, your effort and patience troubleshooting your Ionic before posting are appreciated. To resolve this, I want to suggest you our factory reset procedure, which is completely different than the restart process that you already tried. To do so, please follow the next steps:
- On the device, hold all three buttons for about 10 to 12 seconds.
- When the Fitbit logo disappears, quickly release the bottom right button, continuing to hold down the left and top right buttons (releasing the bottom right button as soon as the logo disappears is time sensitive).
- When the device vibrates, release all buttons.
- Wait for approximately 1-2 minutes while the device clears all data. Eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays Fitbit.com/setup.
- When the device successfully resets, please use the normal out of the box process of updating the firmware. You can check: How do I update my Fitbit device? for more details.
Take in consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.
I'll be here if you need further assistance. Keep me posted.

I will attempt this when I return home. I am currently on vacation.
Thank you for your insight. I will report back.

I am having the same problem with the Fitbit Ionic. but none of these things is solving the problem and now the screen will not turn on at all. The device was left on the charger all night last night and I have tried different chargers just to make sure that that is not the problem. Any recommendations?

Update time.
I left the Ionic on when I went on vacation, so the battery had run down by the time I got home. I charged it up and when it was fully charged it was working properly.
I then did a factory reset via the screen, and that worked fine. The device was back to normal. I believe I did this on 17 March, maybe 16 March.
However, yesterday, 19 March, the screen stopped being responsive. I think I've also noticed it rebooting on its own.
So, in short, the device is useless and unreliable. Not at all what I expect from a $350+ device that is less than two years old. Fitbit, I expect massive compensation for this. I am not impressed at all. @RicardoFitbit
