Recording exercise while using Metronome app

When recording my run or walk, the Ionic captures my heart rate etc and all the details are exported to Strava.

When I use the metronome app, how do I continue to do the above? Fitbit does not run both apps simultaneously.

You can't. Three options: 1. Use phone + Ionic. 2. Look into buying a real smartwatch. 3. Wait for Fitbit to figure it out, either as an Ionic software update, or worse, having to buy a new Fitbit smartwatch.

I suspected as much. I appreciate the reply and offered solutions.  Today when I backed out of the metronome after my run, I was surprised to find the Exercise feature was running and waiting for me to click finish. It recorded my run, heart rate, and exported to Strava without me starting that app. When I clicked Finish on that app, it asked if I wanted future runs to be recorded automatically. Maybe this is a new feature.

It would still be nice to be able to have the metronome run in the background so I can view the exercise stats during my run. I like knowing the distance I have traveled, for how long, and my heart rate.  I also like the mile notifications.

Maybe ability to run multiple apps will be available in a future update.

I thought about using my phone's Strava app to record my run as you suggested, though it would omit the heart rate information. I am using an Apple watch to record Strava runs so that I can view the desired functions mentioned above during the runs.  Eh.
