I'm thinking to buy this ( if only I will manage to detach current Ionic strap 😕 😞
https://www.amazon.co.uk/StrapsCo-Stainless-Steel-Adapters-Fitbit/dp/B079YV28SQ/
Looks like this adapter allows to use any 22mm watch band and there are tons of them available online. Has anyone tried this or any other adaptor of such kind yet? My current Ionic band is a) broken b) dissolving c) stinking ( and no matter what I can't get rid of that stench ) and need to figure out how to replace it ( one part is glued as there was no other way to fix it back then ) and I don't want to rely on Ionic-made bands.

I don't know about the adapter, but you can find a variety of third-party bands to fit Ionic on Amazon, though maybe your problem is that they wouldn't fit now since you glued on one end.

Stench usually comes from improper cleaning leaving sweat, bacteria (both live and dead), and bacteria poop on the band. This starts to decompose when other microbes, leaving more poop move in.
If your band is a cloth band this activity will start attacking the band.
I encourage you to look at the Wear and Care guide.
As for the adaptor it looks like there should be no problems.

@Rich_Laue I clean it after each workout and every morning with all other equipment ( straps, another watch ). Cleaning it helps for a while but then after a few hours, it stinks again. The strap is discoloured ( something I can't clean no matter what I do ) in several places and it has noticeable cracks. It's time to replace it but glueing makes it harder. I'll try to unglue it somehow anyway. My question is related to the adapter though because I'm considering trying out custom made strap which is made of stretchable textile. The idea came to me after I tried to use PolarOH1 sensor which uses similar material and this way I can wear it high on my forearm. The friction between the strap and hand prevents it from sliding down even if I sweat. So I've been thinking to see whether this could be a way to keep Ionic more stable during high-intensity workouts and far away from the wrist. Also, it's good protection during climbing ( soon there will be no more space for scratches on the screen ). OH1 sensor ( optical ) works perfect on forearm or bicep. Maybe Ionic will do so, too. The adapter would allow me to attach any regular watch strap and custom made one.
