Hi mods,
How do I go about reporting a possible phone compatibility issues with the Ionic, or can you onpass the details?
It seems my new Motorola G9 Plus Android 10 phone doesn't automatically sync with the Ionic via the Fitbit app. I have factory reset the Ionic several times and set it up from scratch as a new device. Also uninstalled the app after removing the Bluetooth connection etc.
On receiving the phone the Ionic did intially automatically sync for a while, then stopped syncing. But a manual sync via the app alway worked, and still does work. I factory reset the Ionic and still no auto sync. After a second factory reset of the Ionic automatic syncing started working for a few days then stopped. Yesterday I factory reset the ionic once again. Still no automatic sync. Manual sync through the app works fine.
I've done about all I can do.
I'd like this issue bought to the attention of the developers if possible. Hopefully it's just a compatibility issue with a new model phone that can be tweaked in the app? This phone was only released internationally in September, and in Australia in October/November.
Thanks,
Paul

I may have fixed this syncing issue. It seems some notification settings and options are not presented to you when setting up the tracker on a new phone or deleting it from an existing phone and setting up again.
How did I find this out?
On Android 10 I went into Settings>Apps & notifications>Fitbit>Storage & cache>Clear storage. Do this after a manual sync if you don't want to loose any data on the Ionic not synced to the Fitbit servers under your user login.
Close the Fitbit app and re-open it. Now log back into your Fitbit account. After ~60 seconds or so the first screen which I've not seen before is Location Permission Required to Sync. Ensure the two check boxes are ticked. Location permission probably isn't. Allow other permission popups. Privacy aside, I don't think we have much choice but to allow these.
Now the usual notification settings in the app will need setting up again, such as email provider, Text preference and Calendar etc. I use Outlook, Android defaults to Gmail etc.
Although I still get no email notifications - never have from previous phones, it seems automatic syncing is turned off on install and the only way to see the allow promps is to clear the storage in the app.
Hope this helps another with syncing issues on Android. Perhaps this procedure can be loosely applied to iOS, for those with similar syncing issues.
Perhaps the App developers need to have a closer look at this under Android 10 and perhaps 11? I didn't have issues with Android 8 & 9, but have never had email notifications come through on the Ionic under any Android version.
IIRC, email notification worked fine a few years ago on the Nokia/Lumia phones I had running W10M. (Windows 10 Mobile).
*EDIT*
Syncing seems to be working well. Almost too well. Ionic syncs every few minutes.
LOL!
See how good it is after a few days...
