Fitbit Update 12/05/2017: The official firmware update has been released. You can now just update to the latest release version to get development capabilities.
Fitbit Update 10/25/17: If you'd like to revert from the developer firmware (27.30.3.2) to the production firmware (27.25.16.7), follow the instructions below:

All pending requests have been processed. You should be able to factory reset now.

Excellent! I'll give it a try. Can you verify what version I should see after factory reset? Or, I suppose I can just verify that the dev bridge option is missing. Thanks for the quick response!

It looks like it worked. I went from V.27.30.5.8 to V.27.25.16.7, and the developer bridge option is no longer available. Thank you for your help on this.

honestly, a notification is needed as soon as you can reset. And it has to be easier. Similarly simple as Windows Insider with the mobile phone.

This won't be an issue once the developer preview has finished. It was a short term programme to provide software developers access to a specific firmware.

I'm stuck on the Reset procedure. It's stuck with a big red 'x' and the message "Data not cleared / Sync & try again". I've been on the phone with your support folks but can't get past it.

hello DavidSheppard you just have to set up the Ionic again. Didn't really work with the windows app either. But it was over the iPhone.

Thanks for the idea. I've been trying but it's apparently incommunicado. Can't pair it with the cell phone, even after resetting it and reinstalling the app.

The latest firmware ruined my Ionic, version 30.5.8. Over the course of the last 10 days it started doing some very odd things, deteriorating to tonight where the watch completely crashed.
Over last weekend I noticed the watch locking up during long runs. First on mile 7 on a 10 mile run I looked down to check my pace and noticed the watch still holding on the "Mile 7" screen. Annoyed I tapped the screen, no change. Then I pressed the buttons to pause the workout and I felt the watch vibrate, but still the "Mile 7" screen persisted on the screen. Supremely annoyed and sweaty at this point, I hard reset the watch by pressing the two reset buttons. Upon reboot I restarted a new run activity and after just one mile it locked up again with "1 Mile" on the screen. When I got home I synced the watch to my iPhone and luckily my stats synced.
Over the week my calories burned has been severely under-reported and step count is wonky. It even confuses my three other connected FitBit trackers on their daily accumulated stats.
Tonite my Ionic decided to call it quits... I get home from a short 2 mile walk, then attempt to sync my entire days stats plus that walk but it only syncs my steps and floors, but not calories and the exercise itself. Attempting to troubleshoot the problem, I cycled my BlueTooth on my iPhone without luck. Then I tried re-pairing my Ionic with my iPhone but it refused to pair even when putting in the correct codes. So finally I removed the Ionic completely from the FitBit app, then tried to add it back without success falling it to the before mentioned loop. So I invoked the nuclear option; I did a factory reset on the Ionic and attempted to add it back to my FitBit app on my iPhone. It connects but forces a firmware download and is going VERY slow, like its been doing it for-the-last-two-hours slow.
Exasperated about this whole "developer" program and lack there of, I want out. My long time passion and loyalty for FitBit is being tested with the mess that is the Ionic. I submitted my email to opt-out and I'm going to wear my Surge until I can hopefully reload the production firmware. I only wanted to make watch faces for my Ionic, thats all... but instead this rough beta garbage has ruined my $300 watch.
I tell ya... for all the build up and anticipation for this new watch yall at FitBit have majorly fumbled. As a guy that works in IT and has the patience of a saint with this kind of stuff, I'm exasperated and annoyed. As a marathoner, all I wanted was a "Surge 2" with just minor tweaks like changeable bands, but I digress. The stats inaccuracy and corruption is unforgivable at this point causing me to not trust the Ionic.
I sincerely hope that once I'm off the list and back on production firmware I can tip-toe back into it.
Bottom line is this: Please don't run off your most loyal FitBit fans with a half-baked product launch trying to chase a feature set that your competitors already have covered. Focus on what makes FitBit special, instead of trying to capture what others already have mastered.

Thanks for your feedback.
Please be aware the that the developer preview is beta firmware, intended to be used for development of 3rd party applications only. It's not intended to be a general purpose, early access firmware for every day use, and it may have issues or other bugs that won't be present in non-beta firmwares.
I hope now that you've downgraded, you're seeing expected usage.

thanks I did a factory reset, removed fitbit from my iphone app, deleted and reinstalled the app. and then upon resetting, watch refused to connect to wifi with a red cross.
(this was the initial problem because of which I wanted to revert to production firmware)
Anyhow, I selected option of updating via bluetooth which is a painful long process, after finishing I tried to again connect watch to wifi but It didnt work.
My firmware version shows 27.25.16.7 and I still see "developer menu" option in the phone app.
Is there any way that watch can connect to wifi. I have done all troubleshooting steps as given in several forums here.
Have done almost half a dozen factory resets in this last week, have sought help from customer care, reconfigured my router to the recommended, deleted and reinstalled fitbit app.
still upon trying to connect to wifi, red cross appears across fibit screen and it fails to connect.
the only reason I bought ionic to replace blaze was to be able to carry music in the watch.
I have been a loyal fitbit customer flex>charge HR>Blaze>ionic and aria.
Really regretting my decision. 😞

You can ignore the red x. It will still pair and install the firmware.
You can't connect to wifi if the battery is below 25%. How charged is your device?

Hi Jon,
Thanks for replying.
I've been down the reinstall road a couple of times with your CSR's on chat and the phone. I've reset the device in two different ways, I've reinstalled the app on my cell phone, reset my cell phone, started and stopped my cell phone bluetooth over and over again, etc. I've been unable to pair with it using only the bluetooth setting on my cell phone or using the app.
I'm seriously stuck.
Is there another way to reset the device to the factory "new" state?
Yes, I must assume the device is 100% charged because I've plugged it into a known good powered USB port for several hours before trying anything. There's no visible proof because the only display I can ever see is the Fitbit logo and the red "x" display I described before. And yes, my WiFi is fine too.

have a long run tomorrow and would like my cues to start working again

I had the same problem with mine. I noticed that the device is still working but the display is stuck on the lap displays. It seems to have forgotten to go back to the previous display once a few seconds have elapsed since the lap finished. New lap updates appear but stay from then on. Further, when I reach my steps goal, it shows the fireworks etc. but reverts back to the lap display again. It's a simple software error but apparently the beta software has the error and the production doesn't.
This is what prompted me to revert back to the production software. Then my real problems began.
Regards,

Were you able to restore to the production firmware?
