Run tracker malfunctioning

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have noticed during races and routes that I normally do that my watch tracker is way off with the mileage. It signals a mile long after I have already hit the known mile and subsequently it says my pace is much slower than it really is. The heart rate is also not accurate as it shows me well above my max HR on easy runs. I have also been having the issue where the watch randomly shuts off in the middle of the run, usually have the first mile. Is anyone else having similar issues??

@kycard Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Sorry for my delayed response. Thanks for posting the situation you are experiencing with Ionic not being accurate.

Firstly, I'd recommend performing a restart on your watch. This helps when you experience stats not being tracked correctly. Also, are you using GPS while doing these runs?

Regarding heart rate, I'd recommend checking the wrist placement you are using. It is recommended to wear it one to two fingers from your wrist bone depending the intensity of the exercise. Not too tight, but no too loose. Please check this helpful article for more details about this.

I've seen some reports about the watch shutting off  in the middle of an activity. This is currently being investigated by our team. Will let you know once I have any updates on it. In the meanwhile, you can manually log that activity for you to not loose credit.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy

Hello,

I tried these tips and they didn't help. I've further experienced my watch shutting off during exercise and even after restarting it it continues to shut off. After restarting my watch, all of my exercise data for the day deleted so this did not help either.

@kycard Thanks for your reply and for providing those details!

In this case, I'd like to recommend trying a factory reset. This should help you out. To perform a factory reset please do the following:

  • Go to Ionic's settings app.
  • Tap About.
  • Tap Factory Reset.

Please note that doing this will erase all music, apps, clock faces, etc. and will become like when you first got it.

Try this out and let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy
