I do not see how or if the running app shows altitude climbs etc. I do not want to see I have climbed stairs for a run unless I am doing steps. Is this a function or is Fit bit behind the times?

The Ionic itself does not provide this information. Once the activity is synced to the Fitbit cloud, elevation change will be visible there. Not helpful during the run.

Hello @wg8569, could you please confirm if you're referring to the ability to sea elevation changes live while you're on a run? Or you were referring to the total elevation change displayed on the app?
These are some of the ideas posted in the Feature Suggestion board of the Community:
Thank you for your helps with this @sfringer.
I hope this helps.

@wg8569 Unfortunately this value is not available on the Ionic. The only places to see it is in the app on your phone or on the Fitbit web app.

Thank you for your reply @wg8569, some exercises, like running, biking, and hiking, automatically use GPS to capture additional stats such as a map of your route and elevation gained.
For these workouts you should be able to see the elevation information on the final summary as soon as you complete the exercise.

Thank you for your reply @wg8569, as for the information provided in this Feature Suggestion, it seems that elevation details are only available through the online dashboard at the moment. You can go to Log > Activities > Activity Log > See More Details.
I hope this helps.
