Settings required alert following charging of Ionic

after putting my ionic on the charge, I went to put my watch back on and noticed that the settings seem to have dropped and an alert came up stating "Settings required".  Did something happen to the system to wipe out my settings?

On your app you will need to find another clock face.  It seems some of the faces have timers and thus die, this requires you to find a new one or pay for a new one.  Only you pick a new face, sync you watch, the updated settings will be reapplies and all will be good again.

That is what I ended up doing after 1.5 hrs of fumbling around. Assuming this is not the first time this has happened or the fact that there is no mention that it is going to happen when picking a clock face, why is there no help to quickly solve the problem??????
