Short battery life while using gps and music

My Ionic died at mile 12.5 during the Denver half marathon last week. I was using the gps and listening to music from the device. I understand that using these two functions in tandem is going to shorten battery life, but the device went from 100% charged to dead in roughly 3 and a half hours. Pulled it off the charger at 5:30am. Started run tracking and playing music at 7:05am. Dead before 9:00am. I’m curious to know if this is the expected battery life while using the device in this manner or could this be an issue with my device. Thanks.

The stated battery life is up to 5 days. It decreases to up to 10 hours when using GPS and up to 12 hours when playing music. I would say the combination of the 2 could easily result in the experience that you mention.

Appreciate the reply. That’s what I expected, but still disappointing. The wait continues for a device that can have all of its features used as intended over longer distances.

GPS is the most battery intensive function on a smart phone.

Fitbit recommends charging after any GPS use. I have found that if I use the music for two hours durring the day I need to charge before going to bed. Yes the constant use of Bluetooth Classic uses a lot of battery and the ionic does not have much room for a substantial size battery.
