I've never had a fitbit and the more reviews I read the more confused I get. For everyone that loves their ionic there is another one who hates it. The GPS and music would be nice on the Ionic but not necessarily worth doubling the price of the Charge2. I'm more concerned about the accuracy of the steps, exercise logging, sleeping, heart rate etc between the two.

Hi @kanga1,
It's a good question. I have both models, and in terms of steps, HR, exercise, sleep, they have very similar functions. I believe the Ionic is a little better at tracking high-intensity exercise in my experience (but not enough to be a big deal).
The choice for me would be around features like onboard music and GPS. The Ionic screen is gorgeous and the battery life is really good. It's a new model, so there is a learning curve to it (I'm still learning).
The Charge 2 was my first Fitbit and remains my favorite to this day in terms of function vs. price, and it's what I'd recommend for someone new to Fitbit. Hope that helps.

If you want to complicate your life with issues every now and then, and have something fancy, go with the ionic.
If you want something that works, but need to replace band every three months, go with the Charge 2.

Hi. I just upgraded from a Blaze to an Ionic for one key reason: water resistance.
Highly recommended feature. I don't recommend a wearable without it.
