Since update to OS 2.0 frequent restarting of Ionic

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I finished updating to OS 2.0. The experience was questionable, as I needed about a dozen tries until it finally worked.

Since the successful update yesterday afternoon, my Ionic keeps restarting on it's own.

I am not sure to actually recognize each restart, so there might be more. So far the count (in about 14 hours) is 5 (that I have seen).

What is going on?

How can I stop this?

How can I downgrade the OS to the actual usable and somewhat reliable previous version?

Make that count 6

Add me to the group affected by this issue.
Constant restarts which detrimentally affect not only step counts but ALL of my stats.

Any possibility of a new update to fix the old one?  No problems prior to the update.

Also "interrupts" sleep. And after the restart the ionic does not recognize sleep.

I wish I knew a way to downgrade to the previous OS version.

Keeps restarting every time I try to sync. Fixed the problem a couple of days ago by removing the Ionic from the app, and re-attaching it. Problem occurred again today, and now I am not able to connect the Ionic to my account again, since every attempt ends in an endless reboot cycle. Even if there were an update to fix this, I could not install it, since I cannot connect the god **ahem** thing to my phone anymore. Awesome.

My ionic resets every time I try to sync so several times a day also. No data lost thank goodness but it is rather irritating.

My install was fine, but i have the same problem here. Seems to restart quite a lot on its own..
Any fixes yet?

Update:

The restarts are getting more frequent. And: it's typically now two restarts in a row. I counted 7 of these double-restarts in the last 3 hours.

Would be nice if anyone from fitbit would react.

Guess I'll check on how to factory-reset my ionic before it's completely bricked

Update:

I did a factory reset last night. I was hoping to avoid going to OS 2.0, but no such luck. Fitbit app does not even ask if I want to update, just does it.

Factory reset does not solve the problem. Still have the restarting happening, a bit less frequent but not a solution either.

My ionic restarts withing 2 mins after i start it and just continue to do so.... have tried facotry reset and re-install 5-6 times and my watch has been useless since yesterday.  and after a couple of restarts it says "clock error change clock face"

"Sync off" doesnt help, it doesnt matter what i do it just keeps on restarting after i installed useless " Oh**ahem** 2.0"

And the stepscounter just counts up every second when its laying on the table.

Heartbeat bpm is  115-130 and should be 50-70..

Cant use my ionic at all..  just laying on my table going on / off every minute.

Hey Y'All,

I have been experimenting and would like to suggest you also try this:

It is not a solution, just "damage control" for the time being:

I have disabled "All-Day Sync" and this seems to take care of the frequent restarts. Would like to know if you all can replicate this observation. Also, please include the OS version of your phone and version of fitbit app. Hopefully we can speed up solving this issue if we can supply very specific description, way to replicate and systems impacted.

Thanks,

Guys.... I think we should return and ask for full refund for this.

I am working to return it. If I am success, I will let you know.

We should not waste time, energy or feeling toward this firmware update nightmare.

I want to know how Fitbit will handle this problem.

Yes, turning off all day sync and constant connection works around the all day restart issue, but when you try to sync manually, you're still s.o.l.

This is pretty unacceptable.

29/3 my watch counted over 80000 steps with the clock laying on my desk at home....

Ran out of juice and yesterday i charged it again and now the watch is dead..

Its vibrating somethimes and the HR sensor lighs is on sometimes but the display is completly dead.

For some reason it's getting completely wild again:

A couple days ago, My ionic shut down because it ran out of power. It had 42% battery the night before. Since then the syncing issues have gotten worse.

I could not sync for the last two days at all.

So I tried the remove from Bluetooth route with no success.

So next stop remove device and re-add: Real funny there: Goes thru the motions, tells me has success that it found it and fails because I don't know why.

It's starting to get a nightmare.

Was considering getting a charge 3 for the wife, but am re-considering as fitbit can't get the basics functionality fixed for the half year I've got my ionic.

Very disappointed
