Hello, i'm new here and i'm just asking this question as there is no info about this.
I'm a long Sony phone user and not planning to change this, my question are:
- can someone that used the Iconic and the Alta HR with Sony Xperia XZ (android 8.0)phone, tell me that it works?
Advertising is that the Ionic is compatible with "Android" witch for me equals "all android phones" in realty you find out after you bought that are only a few android phones compatible. I want to buy the products but please someone tell me if they are compatible or at least there will be support for them. Fitbit wants to sell products but I think is losing a lot of business by supporting only phones from 5 years ago like "Xperia Z" that I still have home for Spottily music only 🙂

The flowing works and tested for 5 days, with Sony Xperia XZ (android 8.0) and Fitbit Ionic
- No issues parring the Ionic from Fitbit application.
- Sync works corectly
- Message Hangouts and Sony SMS works, Sony email app and Gmail works correctly. The notification interface is fluid and works better then my old Sony Smartwatch 2.
- Mp3 music with Jabra Rox headphones works good, no lost signal (but not connecting automatically all the time, you have to go to bluetooth menu and push connect before starting music)
Not tested:
- Calendar notifications
- Water resist functionality (to cold here to go swimming 🙂 )
Not working:
- incoming call notification (about 5 seconds after the phone was ringing the Ionic vibrated and displayed unknown caller) - Disabled this as there no point, I have to pick the phone up anyway if I need to respond.
Insights in Ionic functionality:
- MP3 take to long to sync with the phone ~20 min for 60 songs at 320Kbps. Spottily support will be the best feature if there is any plan for this.
- No way to change PLAYLIST when you are listening to music and in an activity.
- The Ionic store application is a bit slow and hanging for 1-2 sec sometimes.
- GPS is fast and accurate.
- Ionic battery is @3 days with all day notifications(email, hangouts), 1h/day workouts, GPS 30 min/day, 1h/day Bluetooth music.
- Phone battery will drain faster with about 10%-15% per day, my Sony XZ is still in the 2 days battery range.(this might be because i'm checking the fitbit app often and logging food and water)
Features that will make the Ionic better:
- Spottify support
- A way to close the aplications from tochscreen (when in an aplication like weather the only way to go back is by pressing the middle button) "Fitbit Now" can be closed by swiping downwords.
- Quick response to email, messages and calls.
I'm sure I'm fogeting some but for me thee are the pressing ones.
Since my last post I was captivated by the Fitbit ecosistem and orderd an Fitbit Aria 2 that came yesterday, very slik design and works fine with the Sony XZ for configurig.
Versa is not available yet in my country but will get one once is available, my girlfriend Alta HR is not so special once she saw the Ionic.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @mpetcu! The developer team is aware of the need to add new devices to the list of compatible devices. There are some users who can synchronize with non-compatible devices. If your phone meets the requirement of Minimum Supported OS (Android 4.4 KitKat), you can try the tips on the following help article: Synchronization troubleshoot, set up troubleshoot or even notifications troubleshoot.
Note that we don't guarantee that the synchronization would be will be successful as we are still testing on this phone model.
If setup does not work, I recommend setting up and syncing via a device listed as supported or using a Windows 10/Mac computer with integrated Bluetooth 4.0 running the Fitbit Software.
But... if you want, we can try some steps that have worked for my sister. She owns a Huawei which is not yet a supported device, but she has tried the following (which I think won't hurt if you try that as well) and she made it:
1. Your phone must not be set to "visible for other devices"
2. Your phone must not be "searching for other devices"
If either of these two things are active, the Fitbit cannot connect.
In other words, you have to set it to invisible, and you have to click the stop button if it is searching for devices. So, Bluetooth should be on, but not doing anything at all in the Bluetooth menu. Then force quit the Fitbit app and it'll sync. At least it has done with my sister's phone for over a month or so. Give this a shot, I'm crossing my fingers.

Thanks, but I do not need info on how to "try" to connect the devices I just wanted a honest opinion from someone that had this configuration of Sony Xperia XZ and Ionic or Sony Xperia XZ and Alta HR.
I want to know if the sync is working now with the possibility of future push messages working.

After reading other forums and information I went "in to the unknown" and got an Alta HR to test it with the Xperia XZ.
The flowing works and tested for 3 days now, with Sony Xperia XZ (android 8.0) and Fitbit Alta HR:
- No issues parring the Alta HR from Fitbit application.
- Sync works corectly
- Message (Hangouts tested) works
Not tested:
- Calendar notifications
Not working:
- incoming call notification (about 5 seconds after the phone was ringing the Alta HR vibrated and displayed unknown caller)
Considering that it works 95% I went ahead and order an Ionic, will let you know after i test this one.

Hi, I have a fitbit Ionic (adidas edition) that worked fine with my Samsung Note 8. However, I have recently changed my phone to a Sony Xz2 dual sim and the fitbit will no longer Sync.
Regards.

@Jkh1701I'm sorry you are having the syncing issue.. I have found it can be up to 3 minutes before the synced results appear on the phone.. When I sync in the morning to pick up my sleep data I always have the PC Dashboard open, or go into the Sony browser Dashboard and the data appears in sequence... Steps first, then a delay and the Sleep graph.. Then a time lag before all of the data arrives in the phone.. A further delay for RHR.. Even up to 5 minutes.. I don't blame the syncing, I feel it's a server turn around problem.
My Sony's are Xperia XP and Xperia XA2 or model # F8131 and H3133 (go to Settings, System to see you model #) and both Android 8. I mentioned model because with Sony global, the marketing name may change but the underlying model numbers are standard..
The XP has been running since 2016 and the XA2 the last couple of months. Both have worked on all of my Fitbits, Blaze, Surge, Ionic, One and Zip with no issues.
The only issue I have found is conflicting Bluetooth in the house... meaning too many non Fitbit devices caused me issues setting up. This was evident with my Kardia aFib tester which tells you there is too much interference..
