I realise the Huawei is not a supported device but the sync issues had been fixed and my watch has been syncing with my phone for some time now. However since the last update I just can not get the sync to work. I have followed all advice from switching Bluetooth on and off to switching the phone and the watch on and off, to a complete factory restore which got it working for 2 days. Can anybody provide any original advise?
I have to say at the moment I would not advise anybody who has asked to get a fitbit device the sync functionality is just not dependable.

Just incase this helps anybody else with a similar issue. I went in to settings, apps open by default and changed open supported links from ask everytime to always allow and this seems to have made me at least able to sync if not get notifications.
