I bought a new LG V40 ThinQ back in December, and have not been able to sync to the app since. My little trick to get past it and sync data has been syncing to my old phone and updating over wifi. Last night I contacted Fitbit customer support, and after going through all the recommended troubleshooting steps the only recommendation I was given was to keep syncing with my old phone.
If any of y'all have any better advice, I'd love to hear it. Or if anyone knows if Fitbit has a plan to update the app for new phones, that'd be great too. I'm about to ditch this $200 paperweight and get a Garmin.

Oh, and since Fitbit keeps emailing me asking if my problem has been resolved, yeah I guess so. The solution is to buy a Garmin since y'all aren't trying to fix anything.

You may not be able to get your new phone syncing as it doesn't show on the list of supported devices at www.fitbit.com/devices
Having said that, one thing to try is to "forget" the link to the fitbit in your old phone's bluetooth settings as this could be blocking connection to your new phone.

I've done that too. And I understand it's not in the list of supported devices, I didn't expect to have this sort of problem from Fitbit, so I didn't think to look up the compatible devices. My priority was a phone, not the paperweight....er....fitbit.

@SwaugDog Welcome! Thanks for being part of our Community! Sorry to hear that your can't sync your Ionic with your phone. As @SteveH said your phone doesn't show as compatible but that doesn’t mean it won’t work it just means that it hasn’t been tested by our team. You can try going to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there. Restart your phone and restart your device. After this try syncing them. Also, if you are using an Android device, check that your app has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions) and make sure bluetooth and location services (GPS) are on.
Please be aware that Android users are having issues syncing with Android 9 (Pie), you can check this thread to keep up to date with this.
Let me know how it goes!

@AlvaroFitbit So I went through all the steps and got it to sync once, and haven't been able to get it again. I'm just going to get a Garmin. This is ridiculous

My LG V40 ThinQ has only synched once as well. I'm not sure what to do next. 😞
Synced, I meant! I followed all the steps in this thread. If anyone has any new information, I'd be glad to hear it. Thanks

I don't feel like they're too worried about helping us. They got their money for the watch so they've moved on

Don't forget that customer support don't monitor these boards. If other users can't help then it's best to contact customer support via https://help.fitbit.com/?l=en_US&cu=1&fs=ContactUs

I wish they would give us the option not to update or to revert back to the previous version. I used to be able to sync my LG V40 until the update. I mean I would have to reset it every couple days but at least it synced. Now as the other gentleman said it's nothing but a $200 paper weight. If they can support an LG V10 why can they not support an LG v40 which is an updated model isn't that the reason for doing updates?

Because since they already got our money, apparently there's no desire for customer retention.

Same here. It has only synched once. I am so mad. I shouldn't have to switch to a phone I dont want to get this to work.

Has this been resolved for the LG Q40 THIN? I'm looking at purchasing a new watch but have been unable sync my charge 2 and am concerned about it not working if I get the charge 4

I've had same problem. Fitbit customer support was not helpful. I got the same spiel about LG V40 not on supported device list. Who would think the o!d LG phones being supported and not the newer versions. I also find it suspicious that my old Charge 2 worked and the new Charge 4 doesn't. What is different, it is the Charge 4. Fitbit obviously released it before it was ready. Goodbye fitbit, hello Garmin.

don't know if it could help but at first I either couldn t pair (bluetooth) my V50 to my Charge 2, but it ended working this way :
what I did is remove charge 2 from account
restarted charge 2
restarted v50
add charge 2 ... first step (entering code from charge 2 in the fitbit app) was kind of "fast" ... second step (bluetooth pairing) was kind of "slower" ...
(it looks like I had to restart the 2 devices for the android bluetooth on my V50 to be able to find and pair the charge 2)
