Syncing Ionic without internet or wifi

I am about to embark on a two month ocean cruise. Internet charges at sea are horrendous and wifi will not be available. From what I have read in these forums this means my Ionic will be unable to synch to my IPhone 8. I hope I am mistaken. Can anyone confirm that this is correct?

@OzcraigYou are correct, and what others have recommended because your Fitbit holds 30 days of data  the oldest data at day 31 drops off so you should manually record your first month+.

Also at your port stop overs there could be an internet option there..

I've been on 15 cruises, and am planning number 16.  When I took my Alta HR on my last cruise, I was able to sync it once I was on land.  I, like you, didn't buy the Internet package, but once I was on land, I was able to use my Data plan to sync the device.

Even if for some reason you can't sync, your Fitbit can store your data for up to a week, so provided you can find a place to sync it, you won't lose any data.

Thanks Colin. Hard to believe that this device is so primitive.

@OzcraigThanks for the reply.... I didn't expand on the 30 days of data.. Here is Fitbit's explanation.. The earliest 7 days is minute to minute data and the remaining 23 days is at a day level.. Probably the same that you would write down..

How often should I sync my tracker or watch?

We recommend that you sync your tracker or watch daily. Most Fitbit devices record detailed minute-by-minute data for seven days. (Fitbit Alta records minute-by-minute data for five days). Fitbit devices can store daily totals for up to 30 days.

If you have a Fitbit Surge, your device can store 35 hours of GPS data before deleting some data to make room for more.

I guess you will need to sync your Ionic during you cruise from time to time anyway @Ozcraig Cruises typically go through time zones. So if you want to have the correct time displayed on your watch you will need that internet hotspot at one port layover or the other. But hey, the most important thing is  enjoy your cruise!

This is terrible. Why on earth is it necessary for my phone to take the data from the watch, send it to the internet and then download it in order to see my data?! My girlfriends charge 2 never had this problem.

Yeah this is a terrible "attribute". There should be a client app that can download the data locally.  How hard can that be? It doesn't even have to do anything with the data except store it for later upload.  Of course that is if the sync actually reliably synced.
