Theory - the Ionic has a magnetic issue

I don’t know if the Versa also uses a magnetic charger, so I 100% could be wrong.

However, my Ionic flat out died out of nowhere 3 weeks ago while I was syncing music. No green light sensor, the screen wouldn’t turn on, the battery was at 95%, restarting / factory resetting wouldn’t do anything, leaving it charge overnight did nothing. I only had the Fitbit for 8 months and never really took. It off unless it was charging...

I contacted support and they said I tried all of their troubleshooting tips so they just gave me the option of replacement or 50% off another Fitbit. I chose the replacement, they didn’t want the defective bit that I have. I asked if it was normal for this to happen, and the only response I got was it isn’t intentional for this issue to occur.

I compared the replacement to my broken one and the main difference is tapping the bottom of the screen on the broken one causes a heavy vibration, which leads me to believe something came loose? I was looking more into it and I came with the theory because 1 - they didn’t want my broken one to try and fix the issue, 2 - they changed the type of charger for the versa, 3 - all the forums that have the same Ionic issues of it dying out of nowhere.

Everyone I talked to found it weird that they didn’t want it back, and it kind of came to the conclusion they know there is an issue, but they have the versa’s now so they don’t care to fix it.

I’m glad everything was settled, but I’m not looking forward to having another broken Fitbit in 8 months since it’s a common thing and not going to probably be compensated for it since “it already happened once”.

2 points:

1.  Almost every Fitbit tracker comes with a different charging connection - a source of frustration for people with multiple trackers.

2. I don't think Fitbit ever repairs trackers (guessing it just doesn't make sense financially, as with many electronic devices).  Sometimes they do request the old tracker be returned, or a picture when that can verify the problem such as with a broken band, but I am guessing just to prevent someone trying to get an extra tracker for free when they cannot verify the problem remotely.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
