I recently updated my fitbit ionic.
Since then it has lost time and won't sync. This update had ruined my watch and seemingly there is no way to reverse this. Customer service says that because I bought my fitbit through eBay the warranty is void. This is shocking
They have broken my watch

Won't sync?
If you're using an Android phone go into Settings>Apps & notifications, select Fitbit and press FORCE STOP. Back out, start the Fitbit app again and attempt to resync several times. Still no luck, repeat. I have to FORCE STOP the app to sync every day or two. Sometimes I also have to FORCE STOP the app 2 or 3 times for a succesful sync.
If on iPhone there is probably an equivelent procedure?
Without regular syncing the device can sometimes (but not always) quickly loose time. The clock isn't accurate free-running.

I downloaded an Update before and it wrecked my Ionic. Same symptoms as everyone else. Got a full warranty replacement from Fitbit Service. New watch is fine and when I see that notification to update to new version. No thank you!

This happened to me too, but my watch was still in warranty. They sent me a (I have to believe) refurbished Ionic, and the battery was bad. Always seemed like it didn't hold a charge like my original Ionic.
A few weeks ago while I was away from home on business, the replacement just stopped working. Wouldn't hold a charge. A complete brick when removed from the charger.
Just got done with (very nice) customer service, who offered me a 25% discount on another Fitbit product. So Fitbit breaks my watch, sends me a faulty replacement, then wants me to pay for some more. Wow. Uh, no.
