Fitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.
The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.
This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.
If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

Accepting the discount, by clicking, does not mean giving up the refund.
What is your opinion

Just got link to work again but saying it doesn't recognise my reference number which is the issue I had yesterday and no fitbit support. They've gone into hiding.

Hi, can you tell us whether the discount is available in the UK? I’ve registered for my refund but haven’t had an email about the discount.

You get both the refund and the discount offer. If you choose to get the refund, you don't have to use the discount. Unless you want to purchase another Fitbit device. You don't have to wait to get your refund to order using the discount code if you're finances permit.

It doesn't.

@ArturV wrote:Today I received a message saying that I should accept the price return of my IONIC because they are dangerous and can cause burnings. I was asked to fill a questionnaire. Before I checked in Fitbit site about the true of this warning and yes it was there. I accepted to be reimbursed of the price and deactivate the Ionic. They wrote me telling me that they would put the money in my choice option and deactivation would be in about a week time and I would be warned about it.
The very last minute they clean all my data about sleep - it is essential for me and in my records kept by Fitbit also disappeared. I tried to pair the watch and he didn't with the message saying that by Fitbit decision was deactivated.
I feel very angry not only because I strongly need medical sleep control but also to stay without money and with an usefulness watch.
That is incredible how a company can lie and make huge losses to me
Your data is fine. It just vanished from the app. If you log on to the website, you will find your data there.

Apparently they sold 1m in the US, plus another 700,000 elsewhere. And they retailed at a higher price in some countries. That would be at least $500m to refund for all of them. However, I'm guessing a huge proportion of Ionics have already died and been thrown away, so owners of those won't be able to claim.
I don't fancy any of the new models though, style nor functionality. If it wasn't for fact I've got a lot of friends with fitbits and we do the challenges together I wouldn't get another.

Was wondering about the same thing. Could only choose between PayPal or Mastercard. Chose Mastercard (which I don’t have anymore, because bank changed it to Visa), but never left any accountnumber details….

It's the 3-6 week wait that hacks me off.
It's such a shame because I suspect most Ionic owners brought it because they like the look of it, the other models just look terrible.
