Fitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.
The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.
This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.

Are people now getting email conformation that their refund will be received within 3-6 weeks? I have only been advised on the website when I went through Step 1. I haven't got anything after this email, and it says after your account is verified, you'll get an email after this one. Can anyone help/verify?

I did the 3 steps refund process and only gotten the message on webpage successful but no email confirmation. It delink my ionic from my fitbit app and i approved it. Now I tried to link back it says my ionic was blocked. Anyone has this situation? Is my registration for refund completed?

Finally, after completing all the steps and getting my Ionic disabled from syncing on Friday, today i got my confirmation mail.

Although the fuss, eventually everyone would get the refund hopefully in the promised time!
Just curious on what everyone is planning to do, switch out of fitbit or change to other fitbit devices?

I contacted the chat yesterday and they said wait a bit longer. I have tried three times this morning. Same problem again. Like someone else said in the community, the system is probably slammed with possibly millions of enquiries? 😊

I am waiting for 3 days. I didn't get the deactivation email with the discount code. Or I haven't received any confirmation email.
I don't want a discount code because I don't want to buy a new fitbit. I just want refund. Sorry, I am not sure both are the same thing. So should I try this link too. Because I don't want to lose my refund option if I get a discount code.

I have registred, but stil get the message that my registration number is not found several hours after registration. Trying to get answers by chat, but chat is not working. I already had to replace my Fitbit within warranty period because of battery problems. Quite disappointing.

@Ozgun if you dont want to purchase another item by fitbit then the link i sent is irrelavant to u. U have to accept all them conditions, as in disbablingbthe device and aggree to correctly dispose of it befire they will send ur refund as far as i know. Some users were sayingbthey didmt need to accept the disable thing but i did. Then its a matter of waiting 3-6weeks for the refund to come into ur paypal account or the "virtual" mastercard, depending on which option you selected. Hope this is helpful👍

I have exactly the same issue. Spoke to someone eventually who said they would look into it. Still haven't heard back or had any confirmation we will receive a refund

Managed to get a new Fitbit sense for £168 and not the £300 mark. Think you get 40% off and that's including 5 family members or friends. I also got a free strap worth £30. You can A years free premium membership too. Good luck people getting past the reference page was the hardest part for me

Can anyone answer why Fitbit would think that people who had defective Ionics that died years ago and then left Fitbit would somehow still decide to keep their Fitbit accounts active? I deleted my Fitbit account years ago after my Ionic got bricked due to a faulty update, so how do they expect to find the device linked to an account that no longer exists? I had to set up a completely new account to get my discount since Amazon told me that the Ionic that I purchased in 2017 was eligible, but since I deleted my account, there won't be a record of it! Why can't I just provide my proof of purchase from Amazon and send that in along with the old Ionic (which I actually kept--original boxing and everything). I'll even take a picture of it and post it here. I tried getting in touch with Support, but that is a black hole right now. How does Fitbit plan on dealing with former customers who bought their defective products but left after inaction and indifference on Fitbit's part? I paid $335 for something that only lasted for 18 months, and after getting nowhere with Fitbit, I decided to go to another vendor. However, since I am eligible for a refund, I need to know how I can get it without having to jump through dozens of unnecessary hoops!?!?!

I removed my Ionic six months ago from my account to add an Inspire as Fitbit did not allow both on the same account. The battery is now dead and will not charge but I still have the watch. Looking for suggestions on how to get it to work so I can obtain the recall refund or is the serial number sufficient?

Thank you for your answer. I believe my case different. Because they didn't demand this kind of information from me ( I haven't selected any option or I havent type any info, because they didn't ask me. I mean master card or paypal). You can see my photos. I just have those 3 pages, those 3 steps. Just click 2 option and starting to wait confirmation mail 🤔

My new watch shipped very quickly and was received the next day, but none of the bands I ordered were shipped. On the webpage, my entire ordered is marked as «shipped».
Will the bands ship from a different location later?
