Fitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.
The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.
This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.
If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

More to the point it’s extraordinarily poor that there has been NO replies to any posts apart from the same worded ‘bot posts’ from Fitbit. The fact there has been no further information whatsoever speaks volumes. Yes I know they’ll be inundated but at least some further information would help to calm peoples fears of ‘am I getting a refund or what?’

Hi, Is anyone else having this issue?: I am in Australia and I have filled out the registration and verified account. Fitbit syncing has now been disabled, however I still have not received an email with discount codes / instructions on how to get the refund. How long is meant to take to receive this email after the account verification and sync is disabled??

I also disconnected my IONIC, that is ok, and selected mastercard refund method. However there is no other info about how much I will receive and when. Selecting mastercard or paypal would mean providing the referencew IBAN or Paypal account infos, but these were no asked. So days are passing without my fitbit and no news from the company. Please answer

Hi Dannyalf….I initially registered my ionic using my iPhone and I got the message you are talking about and I tried it multiple times and continued to get the same message.I opened the same email on my laptop and it worked fine first time. Not sure why, but perhaps there is something about the phone/laptop etc that you are using that is causing the problem. Do you have a different device that you can try the link on?

Just a question
Can you still use your Iconic once its deactivated and de synced?
As my Iconic is still working well and wouldn't mind to keep using it.
Apologies if this was asked and answered previously
TIA

Hi, I had the same problem("code doesn't excist").
First it was because of so many were trying to register, so fitbits servers got a bit overwhelmed.
Then I registered again and used the link in the confirmation email, but when I was suppose to choose "country" I could only choose "US".
So I had to update my fitbit profile to my country, then log out, and then use the link in the "reference number" confirmation email again.
Then it worked.

Hi Terri
Thanks for this, I have managed to complete all three steps now via my laptop. Hopefully this may help anyone else struggling with this using their Iphone device as the helplines are not telling people this is potentially the reason they cannot move on from step 1 !
Thanks again for your help!

got through the process (UK), made order for new Fitbit Sense, with Discount, got order confirmation, then later "track order" said Fitbit Sense on Back Order!! Later still further update showing due for shipping on 14th March, Code for expidited delivery wouldn't work either so just came up as "standard" 3 to 5 days delivery. Keeping fingers crossed, may turn up before end of enxt week!!

Hi Wazzah……. Once disabled the ionic will no longer sync with your Fitbit app and given that Fitbit have recalled it because of a fault my advice would be to not use it.

It’s a joke, I have been trying for Ruhr so now, with a chat with “Support”every time it fails.
Has anyone actually managed to verify the account and get a code or is this going to turn out to be a publicity stunt with few if any refunds?
------------
Support keep telling me to “wait 48hrs” then contact them again if no success.
I think they are trying to wear us down until we give up .

Hi Wazzah,

ofcourse I don't know how or if it keeps proper time.
( time will tell 😀 ) as it is obviously not synced anymore.
Cheers Wazzah

After I cannot remember how many attempts, I registered for the 4th time and was able to enter the ref code which took me to the disable page. Fingers crossed now that I do actually get the refund.

I got the same response. Fitbit seems very poorly organised to deal with this problem. I will be considering an alternative to Fitbit in future.
