Fitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.
The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.
This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.
If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

This we all know but so many complaining after waiting one or two weeks or even 3 that they haven’t had refund when it could be 6 weeks. Only person I’ve seen who has said they’ve had refund is septprip above but whether it is meant they’ve received actual refund or just confirmation they will get a refund is a different matter. Think people really just need to be patient

Hey Fitbit why is your recall policy for the Ionic so anti customer? I bought the watch and it broke in May 2021 due to overheating and not charging. Of course I threw it away since your customer team in May 2021 told me it wasn't under warranty. But now they are issuing a recall for the reason why it broke, but since I don't have the watch they say I don't qualify for the recall. I have the receipt and the watch is registered to my account still. Your customer service team doesn't seem to care. Can anyone help me???

Refund?! 19 days in and the watch still syncs to the app! 😐

Just to confirm you have completed the 1st step of registration and didn't get the 2nd email right? Have you contacted Fitbit?
I have the issue and completed the 1st step, verifiee the account and was told watch will be disabled. Even though it is still connected to my account.
Case was escalated and no response. Sedgewick doesn't have the info.

That’s what I have done. Still waiting for the code to complete Step 2. Contacted Fitbit and was told they would escalate my case. Still waiting …….

May I know when did you contacted the Fitbit? I also have the watch linked to my account even though I have verified the account and was told it will be disabled.

The system you put in place doesn’t work. We have to wait for a refund that may or may not appear and have to use our own funds in the meantime to purchase a new Fitbit or just abandon the health monitoring we have in place. Attempts at talking to Fitbit themselves are met with a standard nothing they can do to help.

A shame about the recall. The Ionic was the best sports watch I ever owned. And still the most stylish design I have seen in their range. I registered for that refund and got the discount code. There's a backorder on the new Sense via the store. My Ionic is blocked from the Fitbit app. Is there any way that I can import my Ionic activities without using the app via computer? I have a couple of running festivals I'd like to track.

My ionic was disabled 8/3.. I got a case number for not recieving the mail(s) about discount/refound 12/3
done some chatting with fitbit and all they can say is look out for the email.. (I have checked spam/junk more than my inbox)
I loved my ionic, and at first i wanted the sense at a replecament but tomorrow i will order/buy some other watch and hope that I eventually get the refund

You never the 2nd step email with link to get the coupon? Is your watch still linked to account or disabled?

I dropped my Ionic return box at my local UPS Store on March 17, it got to Plainfield, IN on March 18 and Sedgwick received it on March 21. I printed out the UPS Proof Of Delivery, just in case.

Dear Team,
I am unable to register for the refund because Kenya is not appearing on your list of countries.

@Fitnessguru2
my watch was unlinked 8/3 by fitbit. I have been looking in to spam/junk inbox ever since and havent recieved anything.
When I talked to fitbit support today(2 times)) they said they bumbed it up and that I should keep an eye out for the email..
They can´t even tell if i will get the refund, as I said I loved the ionic, but think i will go somewhere else now..

Same thing has happend to me over the last two weeks. Registered, got a code for «step1» but nothing more. No email to verify, no discount. I have been without ny Ionic for two weeks and I feel lost without it (sleep, aktivitet, email , training etc) Customer service is non existing for Norway . Every reply looks like a hoax ( bad spelling, misunderstanding etc) 😫

Even i did the same mistake bro. Keep trying to that number around or after 10am Indian time. If you're lucky enough they will pick and as usual poor response from them and then they we will say we will escalate the issue and soon you will recieve the mail from us. After so many complaints I do finally recieved a call from private number which's happened to be Fitbit. They just confirmed me with my email id to revert back to PayPal from google gift card.

Folk I agree with some of the people on here that you need to calm down about the refund not having it already, where is it, and I have to buy my fitbit out of pocket. First they were upfront about it being 3-6 week and NO they would never would give an instant refund. If they did that would be terrible business strategy. Second if you looked at FAQ page you would have read that the discount is good for 90 day or 12 weeks after you get the codes. That may seen like a long time but is 6 whole weeks after the max time it would take to get your refund., So if you can't afford a new one now then just hang onto the code and wait till you get your money back. So Therefore they are not forcing you to pay out of pocket to get your new discounted fitbit.
As for the refund itself if I had to make an educated GUESS I would say that April at the earliest for them to start issuing refunds. SO BE PATIENT!!!!
