Voluntary Safety Recall of Fitbit Ionic Smartwatches

Fitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.

The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.

This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.

If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

• Answers to common questions
• Information on how to receive a refund 
• Access to a special discount on select Fitbit devices, bands, and services, if available in your region, for a limited time.

I'm in Germany and just received my refund for the Ionic via Paypal. My refund was also for the $309 (which includes a bit more for the Paypal charges).

I'm still fighting customer support for the refund of 329.90€ that they owe me for the return of the Sense and extra band that they overcharged me for.

The UPS tracking number shows that my ionic should have been delivered on Monday. When I checked the UPS app now it says “check back tomorrow for delivery update”. I checked Tuesday and now Wednesday but the message hasn’t changed. Anyone else?

Thank You - everything sorted out - came to my PayPal and I transferred to my bank and dollar was changed into Norwegian kroner. All worked out fine.

It has already been three weeks since the recall request was completed.
Now, it seems that some people are getting a refund.^^

However, I chose Google gift card among PayPal and Google gift card among the refund methods, but I can't find any special message about it.

Can I get a Google gift card as well?

I agree, I did not receive an email with the discount code when I registered. I have contacted fitbit support several times, each time I was told they would be sending me an email, but same result each time no email received.  I originally registered on March 18th, as of March 30th I still have not received the email  with the discount code.

I'm a Chinese user and I'm glad to see a lot of people getting refunds today. I disabled ionic on day 1 of the recall, but as of now there is nowhere to enter a refund method. I see users in more than one country having this problem

haven't got refund yet but received an email this morning with a link which I guess is to the actual Virtual VISA debit card to then activate. Is this what everyone else received before actually receiving?

That's good you got the refund! And did you receive a email notification from Fitbit saying refund sent and confirmed? Or just a PayPal notification saying funds have been received? TIA
