Fitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.
The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.
This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.
If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

I received the same email this morning. Sedgwick.BP is the same where the original verification email was received from.

The day after submitting my claim, my Ionic would not sync and the time was incorrect. I called Fitbit and was told that the watch should not be worn due to safety concerns and that is why it was disabled. It still counts steps and tracks my runs but does not sync. I don't know if this data is being processed to my account or being lost. I have been with Fitbit since 2013 with a variety of watches so there are years of information that I would like to retain.
I was surprised just now when I looked at my watch and found that the time is correct. I haven't tried to sync but will attempt. I am disappointed with this whole process. I depend on my Ionic and not having it available to train or simply use as a timepiece is unacceptable. I am in hopes that after being bought by Google, the quality of Fitbit products would improve; however, after reading so many reports of problems with top of the line watches, I am not so sure. I will give them one more try but this is the last time if quality does not improve. Then, it's time to move on.

I watched a video on youtube (Fitbit Ionic Recall – How to get a $299 REFUND! (2022) - YouTube). Turn it on the 12:20 min. and you will see the information about the method and she also talk about it and how it works. I did not have that info there back then when I was starting the process of refund. I think that the redemption code is the 9 digit card code you are supposed to put in the box but I am not going to do that because I am afraid of losing my money.

I got an email telling me that my Ionic was being recalled and gave instructions on how to proceed. I assume that those who are registered with an Ionic that is affected would be notified.

I have just been onto fitbit support on a chat and the guy has told me that we should receive a refund on a gift Mastercard within two weeks and that the email we received is just an informative email! I just hope it’s true, we have already waited so long!

My wife got the email yesterday from paypal that her 299 from fitbit was waiting for her. However the email associated with her fitbit (which fitbit sent it to) is not the same as her paypal email, so when she went to get the money she had to link her other email to paypal. Now the money is not showing, and paypal told her that fitbit probably got the money back as "unclaimed" the same day... Help me out fitbit! Since we cant see the transaction number, Paypal can't help....

Hi, I selected Mastercard too and today got an email offering a refund to a B4B account, which I don't have or want. Wonder if it's too late to select PayPal, and how to do it?

I think it was the email that wasn't clear. I've used the code in it to register and am now good for almost £225 on a virtual MC.

Okay. I still have in my mind, if the gift card will be connected with this b4b virtual mastercard.
I also tried to contact fitbit support on twitter, but their respond only says I can go to their web site and read faq. Thank you for your help, I am from Slovakia and it is not possible to chat with them by chat on fitbit website.

Did you take a picture or write down the tracking number on the return label before you sent your package back through UPS?

Hello I would like to ask, if I have to send my ionic to fitbit? Because I am from slovakia and it would cost me lot of money to do that shipment.

I am afraid to do that, because it says on b4b they will charge you inactivity fee 5.99 per month in case of 6 months of inactivity and I do not plan to use it.
