Voluntary Safety Recall of Fitbit Ionic Smartwatches

ionic_product.pngFitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.

 

The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.


This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.

 

If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

  • Information on how to receive a refund 
  • Access to a special discount on select Fitbit devices, bands, and services, if available in your region, for a limited time.

hello, 

 

i had a problem to finish my registration i get the first mail "Fitbit Ionic Recall - Step 1 Complete – Reference 20220304**********" but when i try to continue i get this message : " Reference Code not found.

Please allow 30 minutes after registration on our registration website for our Reference code to work in our system." and it's been 3 days that i filed my registration. 

Any help would be perfect. thanks

Got my codes and applied discount code for a sense. Returned promo success but basket amount did not change. Reluctant to proceed with checkout as I don't want to be charged the full amount.

Yes ive done the same now, wasn’t sure at first if it was genuine but after looking into properly it is, all ordered now!

Did you promo code work? The first code let me in the store but the 2nd code below that states invalid?

@Saas.Z try getting another code and leave it an hour or so and try again. Maybe keep trying different codes until one works. That’s what I did and it eventually accepted it. Good luck

You can only use the code once but once in you can order up to 7 products, I made the mistake of messing up my first order and it would t let me back in to finalise it but luckily my husband is going through the same process so we were able to order our replacements through his code.

Anyone waiting on the discount code, a user called Donnamack posted the below- it worked straight away (I'm in Ireland)

 

I was slso waiting to receive the discount code email. I followed this link-

https://myhelp.fitbit.com/s/devicediscount

Then used the initial registration reference number(the long 16 number code given by email at the start of the process).

I was able to choose from 4 different watches and purchased the fitbit sense for £168.00, they also allowed me to choose a 2nd wristband for free. I think the other options were the fitbit versa 3, charge 5 and one other (I dont remember). You were also given the option to choose one wrist band for free. Shipping was stated as 3 to 5 days, and I've received my order confirmation email. I am away to cancel my premium fitbit subscription, as we also receive one years free premium subscription to new users.

My data has already been stopped from being recorded, I only registered yesterday afternoon, I was hoping to continue for a few days until my new device came

When you enter the shop, do not go to products. You must enter the tab *iconic
upgrade* (or something with a similar name). I made that mistake initially.
If you leave the ionic upgrade section to browse at other products, it
automatically increases the price of your goods. Only shop and purchase at
the iconic upgrade section. You will see the discounted prices on the
items.

I didnt require the 2nd promo code. Ensure you are shopping in the section 'Iconic Upgrades' or similar name.

You will find the discount there and the free wrist bands.

 

Do not shop in the products section.

Just a “BS” to register a refund… website doesn’t work. If that will remain the same within a couple of days definitely “NO” more Fitbit for me on my next smartwatch… sad to say I was so happy with all my Fitbit smartwatches, but the service is so disappointing.

I’m in the same boat. Went through the whole process and confirmed refund method but still no discount email so I can get another one. This was done yesterday evening and still no email.

I have had exactly same issue I clicked PayPal for my refund but have received nothing at all, my device has been disconnected. Live chat I didn't get an answer im trying to call but just sat on hold forever

I went through the recall process received a reference code not found message when I received the code by email. I've waited for nearly 2 hours now but nothing yet. I haven't given my card details for a refund yet either. Is that somewhere in the procces too? Watch still working.
