Voluntary Safety Recall of Fitbit Ionic Smartwatches

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

ionic_product.pngFitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.

The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.

This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.

If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

  • Answers to common questions
  • Information on how to receive a refund
  • Access to a special discount on select Fitbit devices, bands, and services, if available in your region, for a limited time.

@suparmario

you clearly still haven't read my first post of this morning and my other post a little while ago. At this point  I don't need to try again on Monday.

ok thanks, SB1865.  Glad it has all worked out.

Australia. I take back what I said about Fitbit and Only 1 Visa Gift Card.  There never was any problem.  The card was already activated once you apply for it.  Then I tried to transfer money to my online lottery account, thinking I could then just transfer it to my bank account.  That didnt work.

So I tested it on paying for 3 months of licence renewal, and that worked.

The whole process actually went flawlessly.  Apologies to Fitbit and to Only 1 Visa Gift Card.

I just got mine. Had the same message kept checking the link and said 24 hrs. Just checked again and it worked, less than 24 hrs. I linked the card to my PayPal and set it as the main preference for payments, sent the money to mum, she put it in her bank account and then transferred back to my bank account. Super annoying but it worked

NicP05, good to hear 🙂

I decided to pay my electricity account in advance with the balance of my funds.  It just went through.  This left a balance of 1 cent in my gift card.  They can keep it.  How generous of me 🙂

Guys please explain me.

Im confused regarding refund method. I have selected refund through Paypal. My fitbit account email is different and Paypal email is different.

I haven't received the refund yet, but when refund will come. Will it be directly deposit into my PayPal account or will I be getting a link to deposit?

I thought I will get refund directly into my Paypal account wothout having to click any link.

I'm based in the UK and I chose PayPal as my prefered refund method for my second Ionic. Like you, my Fitbit email and PayPal email are different.

I initiated the refund process on the 4th of March and received a refund of $309 on the 30th March. This payment was made to my PayPal email address and thus I had a balance of $309 on my PayPal account which they converted to £227.79 and I then simply withdrew to my current account in the UK.

I hope that helps you!

Shaun

Do you have to pay for the card ? A monthly payment if you don't use it?

You certainly don't have to buy the card. And I think you get up to 12
months to spend it before you get charged. But not a 100% sure.

@BADmf - It seems to me, not so much limited stocks - It's a case of
'supply & demand'
If you get a million plus customers all going for the most popular Fitbit
models, the stock is going to be depleted very quickly.

There is some greed out there too - Folk buying two or more pebbles at
discount price leaves less for others. Fibitt should have put a limit of
one pebble per customer.

@Jimnamechui during the registration process..y3s they will ask you your Paypal email add, but once you receive the refund, you will still be asked your designated Paypal account/email. Im from PH, and I used different email add(different email from what i initially registered), and it still came through successful.

However may issue is that I have separate code for the freeband/accessory which doesn't work.

Yo @enaira, registered March 6, got the refund last March 31.

Also received 3 discount codes, 1 for device (up to 5 but only applicable to Sense, Versa3, Charge5), 1 for the freeband (but doesn't work, I have a pending case with their support, raised it via twitter), another 1 for the 1yr premium (this one also worked). Thanks!
