Voluntary Safety Recall of Fitbit Ionic Smartwatches

ionic_product.pngFitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.

 

The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.


This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.

 

If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

  • Answers to common questions
  • Information on how to receive a refund 
  • Access to a special discount on select Fitbit devices, bands, and services, if available in your region, for a limited time.

in the past i have found them to be quite responsive via twitter @fitbitsupport 

i think this is a massive problem at the moment and things will take time.

Yep, same here. Tried going through the whole process again - same outcome. The help centre chat page doesn't work either, perhaps due to the large amount of visitors at the moment?

Yeah got the same issue. I left it a couple of hours after getting the code to verifying my account but comes up with "sorry, that page is following a different trail".

 

Not sure if I will need to get a new code or not.

I've got past reg for refund but once logged in to verify account it says sorry can't carry on or something so don't know how to continue to get my refund  😁

I ended up calling the help line, long wait.

Guy in US said it works better on Google Chrome

Type in the ref number both times manually - do not cut and paste

make sure your ionic is connected and sync - you may have to re-connect it

This will allow you to finish the process

You have to tick that they can delete it from the system and that you will not use it.

Then you get a message to say it will be deleted in 7 days - Payment should be in 3 to 6 weeks.

I think someone from Fitbit needs to get on here and put peoples minds at rest and explain exactly what is going on now. This is not doing much for their reputation.

I would like to get a refund for my fitbit Ionic but somehow my country is not listed among the countries on your website. How can I process my refund? The live chat is disabled, please assist.

I’m also getting the different trail message. I supposed there system can’t cope with all the requests for a refund.

Same for me. I got the email, clicked on the link and was redirected to Fitbit homepage.

Just read that just under 700,000 Iconic were sold world wide.
I also saw that refund was to be $299.00 thats a whopping *209,300,000 *
Bucks.
I also saw that Google bought Fitbit for over 2 Billion Bucks.
Now that was a good deal for the old Fitbit crew!!!!

No mine was straight forward. There are so many getting in touch, over
almost 700,000 sold world wide so there might be a bit of a wait at times.

my Iconic is not syncing and not able to re pair but it still functions as
watch and I can use app to record stuff

What happens if one does it without sync and connect, mine I did it without sync and connect and the whole process was successful only i did not get a confirmation email as others!
