I've read most of the Ionic manual online. And I've read threads with some of the frustrations with setup. I'll be using an iPhone 6 whose Bluetooth connection is already used a lot with my car and a pair of headphones.
With that in mind, does anyone have any tips for making my transition from my Pebble watch to my first Fitbit as SMOOTH as possible?
Thanks in advance,
Rob

The set up for my Ionic was totally straightforward.
An update is often required as part of the set up, so do make sure your Ionic has plenty of charge.
I would say the other most important thing would be to move out of range (up to 30 feet) or turn off Bluetooth on any other device, as they can interfere with each other. Definitely don't try to set it up on your car! 😉
Hopefully it will all be straightforward! It sounds like you are well prepared.

Welcome! The Ionic is an awesome watch. My set-up couldn't have been easier using a Samsung S3 Android tablet. My advise would be to unpair all other devices connected through bluetooth to your phone before set-up. All my syncing problems in the past have been solved by doing this. For some reason my Fitbit devices don't like sharing. Make sure the Fitbit is on the same wifi as your phone as stated in the instructions and put the watch on the charger during set-up, it will take a good 45 minutes to update. Also, I would stick with the stock Fitbit clock faces initially just because some of the 3rd party ones have been known to cause problems.

I agree with @jwebb72 that it is an "awesome watch", but I honestly don't think you need to unpair your other devices, as long as they are out of range.
Except -- if you still have your Pebble Watch I think I would unpair that (as well as moving it out of range...)

Maybe not, just what has worked for me personally in the past, mostly with the Blaze.

I don't know why people have issues, but I have the iPhone 6S and my set up was super smooth. No issues at all. In fact, I've never had a single issue. I think "operator error" has a lot to do with it. Just follow the instructions, make sure you have a good connection at home or work, and make sure you have plenty of time to let it do it's thing.

Ive never unpaired the other devices (sometimes as high as 10) from my phone, and since the ionic will be new you wont have to worry about it already being connected to anything else.
As for the steps to setup.
I would first plug the Ionic into its charger. it is a large update.
Now with the device that you want to use to setup the tracker. Your iphone. go to the site displayed on the ionic. Http://www fitbit.com this site will direct you to the proper location for installing the Fitbit app. You can do this step now.
After the tracker is charging. simply open the Fitbit app. Choose log in, not the create a new account option. Your posting from your Fitbit account .
Now choose the add device and follow the prompts, as @Julia_G state it is only a few easy steps.
The hardest part is the wait for the download to finish. This can be done through wifi or Bluetooth if WiFi is not available.
Having read the manual i think the setup will go smothly for you.
My last update failed through WiFi and the app suggested to use Bluetooth. I choose this option and the download continued from where it failed. Yes it was an additional agrevation. but following the prompted steps the update then finished smoothly.

Thanks J. I like to use a clock face that shows big digits for time and date, but I'll hold off and use the stock ones for a while, like you suggested.

Thanks to everyone.
Everything went smoothly. Only hiccup was that it didn’t seem like I was getting notifications. But then I remembered reading somewhere in the threads that the watch doesn’t show notifications when your looking at your phone at the same time.
So it’s all good.
1) Synced my Peloton bike ride last night.
2) Getting used to it not being “on” all the time (my Pebbles were always on).
3) Wish vibration was a little stronger (higher setting doesn’t feel much stronger than lower setting).
4) Wearing to bed was fine (tried, but didn’t like that with my Pebbles).
5) Wife loves how it looks on me
