Went swimming and now my Fitbit ionic is continually counting steps even after I took it off

I thought this watch was supposed to be waterproof but after swimming in my pool the ionic is now counting steps.  I am up to over 40,000 steps, meanwhile I took it off my wrist when it was reading 10,500.  Anyone know what could have caused this?  I’ve had it for 18 months so I’m out of warranty...very frustrated given how much money I spent o this thing!

Hi @LIChick, welcome to the community.

I assume you have tried restarting your Ionic (here) to see if that solves the issue?

Yes - tried restarting multiple times, even did a factory re-set per the Fitbit representative I spoke to.  Nothing worked.  I was then inform are they can’t do anything since I’m out of warranty but that they’d give me a 25% off discount code for a new Fitbit from their website.  Why?  So I could spend a ridiculous amount of money on a Fitbit that only lasts 18 months?  No thank you.  They’ve lost me as a customer.  Everyone should be aware of this issue, and they shouldn’t be allowed to advertise the watch as waterproof if it’s not.

Ionic and Fitbit it’s the biggest crap. It will break as soon the warranty expires.
