I had an OG Charge HR back when it released that I wore til it broke. I loved it, but I got pretty accustomed to knowing my general caloric expenditure, so I didn't bother replacing it.
Fast forward to life in covid quarantine with no more gyms or sports. I decided to reinvest to convince myself to get moving on the days I hadn't burned enough. I ended up with an Ionic and I've only been using it for less than a week.
Under the exercise options, I see that it lists "stair climber" However, I'm just running actual stairs. Is that the best option for that as a workout? Or would I be better served to just select "run," "hike," "workout," or something else?
Thanks for any insight to those of you who have tried various options out, already.

Welcome to the forums!
I would use workout. Then set up a custom activity and rename it when t syncs
You can find the custom activity at the bottom of the activity tracker
Workout mode is for this type of thing because its the only one that can be renamed after it syncs. I use it everyday
