When Updating Firmware Device Can't Find My Ionic

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My phone can find, sync, and connect to my Ionic. However, when I go to update the firmware it says "Searching for your Fitbit Ionic. Make sure your Ionic is nearby."

And it never leaves that screen. It just sits there until the end of time.

I have turned the Ionic off and on. I have turned bluetooth off and on. I have unpaired and reconnected.

I haven't done a factory reset and don't want to. I think that is absurd that you would have to completely reset a device to update it. If that is the only thing I can do to get it to work then so be it.

A warm welcome to the Community @Offroadxj! I appreciate the details you've mentioned and the troubleshoot you've tried.

I would like you to make sure your Ionic is connected to the charger as this can be why it's not finding it. Also, perform the following steps:

  1. Make sure your watch is connected to the Wi-Fi network you want to use. For instructions on how to add a network, see How do I connect my Fitbit watch to Wi-Fi?
  2. Move your watch closer to your router.
  3. Make sure your router is connected to the internet.
  4. Restart your watch by holding the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo.
  5. Try again to update your watch.

If this is still not working, please follow step 2 and 3 as posted in this article Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

Keep me posted.
