Hello All - Just bought a replacement Ionic watch, previous one died after about 1 year. Setup process still a confounding and confusing nightmare, instructions (so-called) less than helpful. One question - how do I ensure that the new watch is up to date with firmware, and what is the best way to update. Please do not refer to provided instructions. absolutely hopeless, directs you to Troubleshooting, difficult worse than normal. Thanks in anticipation.

The Ftibit app on your phone will show you when there is new update. It shows an exclamation mark on top right where your device is shown as small thumbnail. You can't miss it when it shows, so don't worry. This is the way to keep up to date software.

Anyway if you just set it up then you have the latest firmware as during setup the entire firmware is downloaded.

I'm glad to see you again participating in our Community Forums @Giampi71 @Maroon @xchatter , let me help you out with this update concern.
@Maroon I'm sorry to see that you feel that way, totally understand how frustrating this can be for you. Let me share with you that when you're setting up your device using a Wi-Fi connection, the firmware update will be automatically updated just as @Giampi71 said. You can connect your device to your Wi-Fi network to download playlists and apps from the Fitbit App Gallery, and for faster firmware updates. For more details you can check: How do I connect my Fitbit watch to Wi-Fi?
Thanks for your comments and suggestions @Giampi71 and @xchatter, I'm sure that this information will be helpful for other users.
I'll be right here if you need anything else.

For RicardoFitbit - ok thanks as far as it goes. A further question if I may? If I want to use the fitbit app on my Windows 10 (W11?) desktop, all very very confusing with the terminology fitconnect and so on, unable to update. May be better off for any inputs from the wider community, as the most assistance offered so far is merely just some mostly irrelevant and very hard to follow for any results.
